Hi Janna.

Looks very clean like the Strip cases before. Am I right that this is the first FUE case published by SMG? Did you measure the area? And what was the diameter of the extraction instruments?

Thanks in advance!

Hi AJKV,

Yes, this is the first "hairline" fue to be documented by SMG. I only have access to the pictures and surgery data that I posted today as I am currently not in the office. I will gather more info tomorrow for you.

Wow. Great looking work. This is that perfect candidate that might have very little future hairloss (from what it appears) and why should he have a scar to worry about? In my opinion--it is the ethical approach and DR. recommendation with a patient like because:

-he is 28

-looks to have little future loss

-looks good with short/shaved hair

-is an introduction to HT world should he not want future work he will have no scar

Tryout - The Mosers do not perform FUE at this time. We did some nice cases out in Vienna. Dr. Ron did all the planning and incisions on all the patients so it is hard to evaluate their work. What I can state is that they have many cutters and planters. Their grafts were very refined. I think they probably don't dense pack as we're used to at SMG but they are progressive and want to do nice work. I enjoyed my time there.

AJKV,

The punch sizes used on this patient is .9mm and 1.0mm because the patient had larger than average follicles and had majority of groupings of 3's and 4's. The larger groupings had to be cut down to 1's and 2's for the hairline and temples.

I like the fact that this is a local patient so we're able to document his progress. I will keep you all updated.

AJKV, - I forgot to address the recipient size question - approximately 30 cm2 area.

True to his word, the patient came in for a 1 week post op visit.

Here are some photos from yesterday op pics to show the healing at one week.

Nice looking extraction area and the placement looks good.

It will be good following his progress to see what the end result produces.

Thanks bm.

Yes, our protocol is ever changing with each FUE session. We adjust to make it more efficient for staff and more comfortable for patient.

Hi AJKV,

We don't have updates at this time since there wouldn't be much to see. We'll likely have some updates at 4 or 5 months post op. Thanks for your interest.

I think most guys on here would be envious of this patient's hairline before his visit to SMG. But the work Dr Paul has done has really turned a good hairline into a potentially brilliant hairline once it all grows in.

In some ways the fact that the patient doesn't need the usual amount of work to restore lots of lost hair means you get a chance to see the full impact of a good surgeon's skills. Excellent work.

6 MONTHS UPDATE - 1397 GRAFTS - FUE SESSION WITH DR. PAUL SHAPIRO

A special thanks goes to this patient from SMG for stopping by this afternoon so we could take pics of his progress. He is very happy to be able to style his hair the way he wants again. When he came in he had gel in his hair to spike it up. We tried to take video of his donor but his hair is just too thick in the donor area to be able to tell any work was done. He has dark, wavy, coarse hairs.

Majority of our hairlines are 45-55 fu /cm2 so I'm going to estimate that was the case for this patient too.

It looks fantastic for six months, completely natural.Janna, in your opinion has this patient seen the majority of his growth now? if so what percentage would you say it is?

Best regards Chappers
