Hi all

I have just returned from Brussels on wednesday 17th August 2011 after having a FUE hair transplant with BHR clinic. I would like to start by saying thank you to Stephen the bhr english rep, who was there to meet and greet me and my girlfriend on Monday morning. A true top bloke who makes you feel very comfortable as he has had a few surgerys himself and looks very good for it which gives me confidence. and obviously to Dr bisanga who is very proffesional.

I am 28 years old and started losing my hair from about 22 years old. I had been thinking about hair transplant for a while and saved up the money. and did my research. I decided on fue as i did not want the linear scar as i like my hair quite short.

I had an online consultation and was quoted for about 3000 grafts. so i went for it but gave myself 3 months wait as stephen said this date was free and worked out well for me so me and my girlfriend could do some sight seeing first.

when i arrived at bhr clinic dr bisanga assest my situation and said my donar was about 70 g/cm . i think thats right anyway.. which is not bad.. and 2500 grafts is what would be best for me to save some donar incase i decided in future surgery..

then it was time to shave the head and carry on. after picking my lunch from a big selection.

Stephen was very helpful with the informing me with how best to treat the head and with the bandana..

all in all im happy i had the surgery done .. and just need to wait now ..

please feel free to ask questions or send emails to my personal email address.

hi bigmac / pacman

I will keep the pics updated month by month. I know how much it helps people with there own desicions .

pacman thanks for that , i probably will keep my hair quite short.

I have been using dutasride for the last 3 months , but just been advised by dr bisanga to stick to propecia from a chemist.. i had read on the net that dutasride was better.. but i will take the docs advise and change.. i has slowed down hair loss alot though. not seeing hair in the sink anymore.. not much anyway. i tried rogain foam for 3 months just before this but found my hair thining out like never before so i stopped it. but again advised this can be normal to start and stick with it . I have been late using the meds because i have been using nanogen fibres which have worked okay. and i think i have just been trying to forget about my hairloss.. but got to much in the end.. feeling positive about it at the moment though.
thanks.

p..s i forgot to thank all the nurses and technicians.. and enjoyed the singing by 1. )(_::

Hi MDCFC

Thanks for the update. At this stage wash really well and to massage even twice a day is fine and you will encourage the hairs to fall. This happens a lot at 2 to 3 weeks post op as you wash well and may even have some at week 4.

hi people

just over 5 weeks post opp now. nearly all transplanted hairs have shed . my laptop is down atm and having to upload photos from my phone so apologies for the bad quality pics. i will put up some quality pics when the grafts start to grow through. i have attached a pic from the top and back so you can see the healing.. i have just had the back and sides trimmed down to a 1.5 a couple of days ago. no pimples yet.. my head still feels a little numb, but i think this is normal. i am still applying aloe vera all over my head. c;;9 .

hope everyone is well

regards

Yes mate its normal for some hairs to carry on growing in their new location, the amount varies from person to person and a few lucky ones with great physiology I guess have a good number that keep growing.you may find some that neither grow nor shed but stay the same length, they shed eventually and regrow later on.This is from my own experience.Enjoy.

Hi mdcfc

At 6 weeks one would expect to have shed most if not all of the transplanted hairs, unless you have been very cautious with the massaging, then they pretty much go at about week 4. Some may still be there and as said may grow and still shed or ad tc said be stagnant and then fall.

Another 6 weeks or so and you will start to see the first signs of true growth so half way there. It will come in slowly from 3 months onwards.

For the head numbness you mentioned this is normal, some guys take vit b tablets to help the nerves back to normality but it will come back in any event.

steve i have been using vit b tabs.. it is slowly getting better.
hi topcat
how soon after your ht did you start weight lifting again? just seen your blog and looks like your doing well mate.
its amazing how many people have told me i look 10 years older at the minute. people seem to think its alright to have views on your hair. i would not say to someone you look fat at the minute.. its not a problem though because i laugh it off . loool

regards

mdcfc I waited approximately 2 weeks and then just lifted light. I was actually doing more work on the heavy bag which causes me to sweat heavily. For me personally I made sure I had a barrier cream applied to my chest because I had extractions in that area and I didn't want a completely soaked t-shirt rubbing on it.

Your work looks excellent. I have no doubt it's going to look great.

Hi MDCFC

Regaine can be applied all over, it does work well on the crown but i've seen results in frontal area also. One caveat is monitor that it doesn't exacerbate any redness in recipient area. Usually well tolerated but some do notice slight redness, so keep an eye on that.
