2968 FUE Dr Feriduni October 2011

Although this is my first post on here I have been present on other forums for the post four years and I thought it would be a good idea to post my hair transplant experience so far.

I am 24 years old and underwent a 2968 FUE operation with Dr Feriduni on the 20th and 21st October 2011.

Donor density: 108 FU/CM2

Transplanted density on average 50cm2 alothough this fluctuated depending upon the amount of native hair present.

Breakdown of follicles extracted:

422 Single
1680 double
866 treble

Overall I was very impressed with the dedication of Dr Feriduni and his staff and look forward to some good growth in a few months time.

Dr Feriduni estimates that I have another 3000 FUE donor supply should I need it in the future. I have been on finasteride and minoxidil for four years. I found Dr Feriduni very understanding in my situation and he patiently answered my many questions during the pre operative consultation. I also found both Daphne and Cristian very helpful in arranging the surgery for me.

People often talk about the skill of the Doctor, however the skills of the technicians/nurses cannot be underestimated either and I found them to be first class. I am now looking forward to some decent growth in the coming months.

The wrinkles in my scalp is a condition called CVG which means I have high scalp elasticity as a result of too much skin to cover my scalp.

Day before
I had a consultation the day before (Wednesday 19th). The Dr answered all the question I asked him and we went through an inital design of the hairline to see what I wanted and his initial thoughts. We were not very far off to begin with. It was decided that the hairline would not lowered but I would have some of the temples filled in to make the hairline look smoother.

1st Day

I arrived into the clinic at about 8.10 and greeted by the Dr. I was taken to my room for the day where I was provided with medical clothes to wear for the day. One changed I was led into the Dr's office at around 8.15am to confirm I was happy with hairline and that I had not changed my mind. Lines were drawn over my hrad to mark out the areas to be operated on.
Two medical assistants greeted me asking if I was nervous and I was very nervous!I was taken to have my hair shaved and wash. Afterwards I was guided to the operating chair to have the antibiotics and anaesthetics taken. I am not afraid of needles but these injections really stung, the painful part of the surgery. I had to lie on my front for around 3-4 hours for the extraction which was 0.95m punch. I cant remember the axact time because I fell asleep.

Was the extractions were taken I was guided to my room to have some lunchI felt quite dizzy due to the injections and being on my front for such a long time. It is quite frustrating because I am certainly not used to staying in the same place for long period.

After lunch I was guided back to the operating chair and the doctor begain making the incisions which took up to 2 hours. The medical assistant then started the placements. The Dr frequently came by to check everything was ok.

At around 5.30 pm I was done for the day and happy to be out of the chair ready for a hair wash. The nurse talked me through it all to make sure I was fine with it. Aferwards I changed back into normal clothes, the Dr checked me out then a taxi took me to my hotel.

Day 2

Day 2 would not be quite as long since most of the grafts has been removed the previous day. I met the Dr at 8.15am who asked if everything was ok. The only problem I had was sleeping due to having to sleep on my back with a neck pillow. I usueally sleep face down so It was not the best night sleep.

I changed in my room for the day and was taken to have my hair washed. Afterwards I was taken the chair for the injections before the extractions started. This lasted around 2 hours and I chatted to the doctor for a while.
The follicles were all examined under microscope as soon as groups of them were extracted. Incisions were them made to create my hairline followed by the placements.

The operation was done my 1:30pm. I had a post op hairwash followed my some lunch. The Dr came by to check it all looked ok and told me to call him should I have any further questions or concerns.

The following day I returned for a hair wash before making the journey back to the UK.

Donor density of 208 FU/cm2, that must be some kind of record or something? You sure of that number?

Anyways, looks great, happy growing!

Yes I am both finasteride and minoxidil for four years. I also made a minor mistake in my original post; the punch sixe used was 0.85 and not 0.95.

The hairs have started to shed now. Im not too bothered about it since I would prefer them to shed now instead of staying around for a while longer and not growing.

Day 21

The grafts started shedding at day 14 and each day since Ive noticed more coming out but I still have a fair few left. I had an hair cut yesterday of my back and sides to try and blend things in. Thankfully it looks ok at the moment.
I go to the same barber all the time and he knew a while back what I was doing so It was not a nervous experience.

Good to hear its all looking ok, getting your haircut after the procedure is a major worry for some, so it was nice for you that your barber knew all about it.

What did he say about the work.

Cheers Bm.

One month post op

Im shedding hair constantly now, expecially around the hairline. Ive had my hair trimmed twice now to keep the back and sides short but I am thinking about getting a 1 or 1.5 grade all over which will probably make things look alot smoother.

Im also quite surprised that alot of my ultra thin hair has also started to grow back, although this has never made any real cosmetic difference for me.

I am now at the 8 weeks stage. nothing has really changed, ive yet to experience any growth but I would expect to see some small improvements in the next few weeks hopefully. Picture quality is still not great but I will have a decent camera by the time growth starts coming through!

Here are two pictures of how I currently look in public with the help of concealers:

2 months post op is too soon to see any grow and so is 3 months post op. I wouldn't expect growth from FUE till after 3 month mark. Even then some patients don't see much growth till after 4 months depending whether you're a fast grower or not. Regardless, be patient and you'll soon see a big improvement.

A good realistic post direct from a patient rather than from a clinic or one of it's representatives.

Sure this will look great in a few months time, this clinic has an incredible reputation.

I agree that I should not expect to see anything until at least the three to four month mark. With my comment I was being more hopeful as oppossed to realistic!

How comfortable was your sleep following the operation? Was there any pain from the donor area? Will your grafts stay safe using concealer?

Sleeping was horrible for the first week since I usually sleep on my front. Thankfully I used some sleeping pills so I did get some sleep.

There was pain for the first three days which gradullay died down and became quite itchy. I resorted to constantly spraying water which helped.

I did not use concealer until four weeks so I pretty sure they are fine. Even now im not painting my scalp with it so it may get a light covering but not enough to damage any grafts. The good news so far is that I am experiencing early growth, but I dont think it will show up on camera at the moment.
