3394 FUT by Mr Ball @ Ziering London

Hi all, I thought I'd post some pics of my recent FUT with Mr Ball.

I'm 35 years, NW 6, and have been gradually losing hair for the past 5 years. I started Propecia 4 months ago and intend to start Minoxidil in the coming days.

Initially I was keen on FUE but online consultations with several surgeons including Dr Doganay and Dr Edrogan advised me that me donor was not of adequate quality to provide the required number of grafts. Hence I decided to go for FUT.

Overall I was happy with my experience with Mr Ball and his team at Ziering London. They looked after me and didn't get fed up of me watching almost a whole series of 24 during the day!!

I'm now day 14 and everything seems to be healing well.

Here's the breakdown:
Total grafts 3394
356 singles into hair line, 2173 grafts into frontal third/half, 1221 into crown
Breakdown 1s 810, 2s 2202, 3s 382

It's just a bit frustrating now having to wait for the final outcome.

Hi Hairguy,

Thanks for sharing your story on the forum.

The work looks nice, this should give you great coverage for that area. Did Dr Ball say how many grafts you have left if you decide to have more work done.

Also how is the donor scar looking as you will of had the staples/sutures removed now.

All the best.

Bm.

Congratulations dude on your recent surgery with Dr Ball, i love 24 too lol.....as BM says the work looks very clean and i like the hairline shape. Did you have your sutures/staples removed at Ziering or an NHS Drop in centre?

I know its early days for the propecia to show any real significant results but have you found it slowing your loss at all yet?.

Thanks guys. Mr Ball estimates I should have another 4000 grafts available for future use.

I had the sutures removed from a walk in centre as I was away from home so I couldn't go to my own GP. The scar is looking really good, it's very neat and thin.

I haven't noticed any changes so far with the propecia, will give it the full 12 months and then reassess.

I'm now week 3 and the crown area can be very itchy and at times sore. The scalp looks normal. Also the scar can feel slightly sore and itchy - is this normal at this point? When should I expect things to improve?

PS. I'm using Bio oil on the scar and also Minoxidil Foam to rest of head, not used Minoxidil so not sure if that is causing some of the symptoms??

Congratulations on your procedure with Dr. Ball. I've always liked his work and your photos help to reinforce my thoughts on his abilities. I hope you update us all as your progress continues.

The Minoxidil could be causing you some irritation, if it were me I would stop using for a few days to see if it clears up. It is normal to feel some soreness and discomfort but nothing major.

Waiting is usually the hardest part of hair transplant surgery. Try not to think about it as much as you can. Less time staring in the mirror at your hair the better in the first 5 months. You went to a great hair transplant physician but best of luck! Heal well!

Totally agree, i know it's hard not to look in the mirror all the time with the excitement of having a HT, but constantly thinking about your hair is enough to make you nuts with the checking the mirror all the time:T:.....best to do something that will take your mind of hair for a while.

Looking forward to seeing it grow in as Dr Ball does nice work.

best wishes BN

Thanks for the replies. I feel the crown itching and soreness has improved to a degree so will see how it goes for now before trying to stop the minoxidil.

Is it OK to start using ketoconazole shampoo again now it's 4 weeks post surgery? My clinic advised me when I asked after the first week to not use it at that point as it's a bit harsh for the scalp. I assume it's OK now?

It'll be fine to use it now, if it does itch maybe use less or water it down a little.

Thought I'd update my thread. I'm now 3.5 months post-op and in the past month have noticed more growth coming along. The frontal view I think frames my face much better than before but the top view shows how sparse the hair is at the moment. Hoping for continued growth which hopefully will improve things. Do you think my growth is as is expected at this point? Thanks

Looks on track at this stage, you will have more growth in the coming months. Some months may seem slower than others but dont let that worry you.
Thanks for the update.
Cheers Bm.
