8 Month Results (2682 Reported Grafts)

I €™m now at 8 months post-transplant and understand the majority of the growth to have come in. The operation was in February 2016. It is now October 2016 as I type this.

I €™m feeling a little flat about the transplant if I €™m honest. I followed the post-operation instructions perfectly and take propecia, minox and also biotin so not sure what has happened.

I feel the density is not as (realistically) expected and the successful graft count appears to be in the hundreds rather than thousands. I understand FUE rates should be 80%+ however this is not represented in the images I will post below.

Before I go on, a picture of my hair pre-operation.

My hair calibre is 70-70-80 and the graft count stated/documented by the clinic is as follows:-

1 Hair- 726
2 Hair- 763
3 Hair- 1116
4 Hair- 77

I had a total of 2682 grafts transplanted according to the clinic.

They stated I have good graft characteristics so the result will be good. Looking at the figures, they do appear strong however at the 8 month mark, the results do not reflect this and make me believe the result may be a failure.

My concerns relate to the following (difficult to photograph accurately):-

The temple on my RIGHT side (as I look in the mirror) is VERY thin and clearly see through. However the hairline is excellent and very soft and natural looking.

The hairline on my LEFT side is VERY patchy and seems to be made up of thick and thin hairs. It looks quite "pluggy". There are some very thick hairs sparsely spaced about 0.5cm ahead of my hair line which seem to have been misplaced. However behind the hairline the density is excellent and matches my native hair.

I emailed the clinic last week but as yet have not received a response.

I appreciate results take time, however at 8 months to have patchy results is leaving me feeling a little deflated. I anticipate some of you will respond and say it €™s a great result. But lets be honest, it €™s not is it!

Thoughts? I really hope the clinic are supportive and sort it out!

It does not look bad to me. For 8 months the growth is good, there is time for more growth and maturity. You will not get a thick wall of hair, it will always be somewhat see through in certain light and angles. It`s quite common for one side to grow in quicker than the other, usually they even out over the 12 months. Its hard to see if there are stalky hairs on one side, maybe a few were placed there, if so, you could have them punched out if they cause you issues.

At 12 months post surgery you will have a clearer picture on the final result, putting you in a better position to make a judgement. I feel you just need to hang in there for these remaining months.

Looks alright to me but I do see what you mean on that left side.

You do appear to have thick, dark individual hairs so maybe that's just the way they're pushing through? Hope it all comes good for you.

Hi Carbolic, you definately have to wait the full 12 months before deciding the outcome of your hair transplant. At 8 months I think your hair looks good, especially compared to your pre op. I`m not sure on the thicker hairs at front in the hairline, there seems to be finer hairs in front of them, its hard to tell. If they are there after 12 months they can be punched out and planted further back, or a slight touch up with some finer hairs added in front of them.

Dr Bisanga will most likely want to see you at 12 months to discuss the result with you, if by then you`re still not 100%. BHR have good patient aftercare and will work with you to resolve any issues.

Regarding you not getting an email response. I was chatting with Dr Bisanga at the recent ISHRS conference and i informed him I`d sent the clinic some emails with no response. He informed me that they were having major server problems wihich has created a backlog of emails stuck in the server. This has affected both incoming and outgoing emails. He assured me they are working on it and everyones emails will be replied to. So, you will have to hang in there a little longer for a response unless its maneged to get through now.

Try not to worry and stress too much about your hair, give it the 12 months and see whats what.

All the best.

You may have more fine hairs in the front that haven't grown out yet. Otherwise I'd say it looks 100% better than before.

Hi Carbolic,
The result doesn't look bad to me either, do you have some immediately postop photos to make a proper comparison?

Did you ever cut your transplanted hair throughout the 8 months? Pictures of your evolution could tell us if you were a late bloomer or not, this could tell a lot about where you stand in the maturing process.

@ Bastion, appreciate the response however I did not however state it looked €œbad € and do not believe it to be bad work. The hairline design is fantastic. My concerns relate solely to the apparent density. I €™m not expecting a €œthick wall € of hair but I €™m not expecting for a hairline from a 55 year old either.

@Gregor100, thanks for the comment and am obliged you agree.

@ Bigmac, grateful for the response and you were correct re BHR. Fingers very much crossed that it can be thickened up.

@Fueguy, yes it looks better than before.

@Escar, thanks for that. Best I have to hand is this at day 11 €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦

@Prayfornorwood, no. It €™s not been cut that short for some time. I may take it all off again but it €™s a bit cold for that at the moment. The picture above is probably the best I have of it that short.

Following on from the thread, I have now heard from the Clinic. As Bigmac says they are having server issues and emails are being answered, but they may take a little long than normal. Dr Bisanga has responded personally and confirmed he is not very happy with the growth so far. I am grateful for this direct and frank response as it means I am not being paranoid about the density. Steps are being taken to assess and correct matters so that €™s a massive relief. I have complete faith in Dr Bisanga to get this right and believe it will turn out good.

I am grateful to all whom have responded with positive words and pleased the community is so supportive. Hopefully things can now be put as the Clinic and I intended.

Thanks again every.

Hi Carbolic, its good to hear the clinic have got back to you and that Dr Bisanga will take care of you.
At 12 months I feel you may need a small refinement which is quite common in the Ht industry.
Thanks for sharing the additional info.
All the best.
