Hi folks, been following this forum for about 2 years and it's why I opted to go and see Dr acar at cosmedica for a hair transplant in turkey! I got back a few hours ago I had about 4000 grafts I'll be uploading some pics hopefully during this week!

Topman Big Mac, the way you conduct yourself on these forums is commendable. One of the reasons as to why it's made me want to document my story. Ive just turned 24 my father has his full head of hair but it's very thin! However during university I lost a a lot of hair. I would have my head down in a book and the book would be full of hair. I was a Norwood 3 losing hair from the temples and thinning in the crown, however the hair loss subsided over the past 12 months maybe due to abuse of biotin and minoxidil that I was spraying on my head once every night. Being a Norwood 3 I had to decide if I'm happy being 24 and having the hairline I have not being able to style/feeling paranoid or not even being able to have a decent haircut or I could do something about it. So I decided to do some research naturally stumbled upon this website and kept hearing about cosmedica. Researched as much as I could and decided on visiting them! I will post my before and after pictures and hopefully as the week goes on will discuss my time in turkey and the experience as a whole.

Post op - sorry about how I've posted them. Useless with this sort of thing. Filled the front and the crown and added a few grafts to bald spots in the middle portion.

Hi Azhar.
Good to hear the forum has helped you in your research. 4000 is a big amount of grafts, bur I see it`s spread between the frontal half and crown. It sounds as though you may have your hair loss under control with the use of Minoxidil and Biotin, hopefully, they prevent or really slow down any future loss. You might at some point in the future need another surgery if you do follow your father's hair loss pattern.
Now you need to rest up and take it easy, follow your post op instructions from the Doc.
Cheers Bm.

Thanks Big Mac! I've been instructed to take 1/4 finisteride and a biotin pill for 12 months I'm going to stick to it. Had my concerns with finisteride but I've researched scientific papers journals etc on its affect in fertility and I'm confident in using it. Even if it is for at least 6 months. Dr acar also instructed me to not use minoxidil and to gradually come off it. So ill be taking his advice. My head is quite swollen at the moment hoping that goes and then lies the beautiful journey ahead!

In my opinion, Finasteride is your best option at retaining your hair. As long as you know the possible side effects and are ok to try it. Fingers crossed it works well for you.
Do you know the doctor's reason for weaning you off Minoxidil?

From the little I remember he was saying it isn't really a long term solution to hair loss. He then suggested finisteride and biotin would be fine. His reasons for weaning me off it where because I have been using it for the past 6/8 months I think if I came off it straight away it may cause some shock loss? So after my head heals and the scabs go (few more days) I'll be spraying minoxidil once every 2 days for a week then twice a week then hopefully come off it...

Hi guys, I'm now 11 days post op. No pain whatsoever a lot of the scabbing is finally starting to come off. I think one more day of washing and it shall all be gone. Think I've retained some grafts thankfully but I'm now entering the dreaded " ugly duckling " phase I'll attach a picture.

Also my native hair seem to be growing absolutely fine considering I'm 24. I'm only on pro scar atm 1.25mg no side effects whatsoever and also on a vitamin tablet plus a biotin one. Just looking to hit that magic growth cycle phase again. Thanks guys

Good to hear everything is returning to normal. The scabs should come off with a good soak and massage, once gone the area looks so much better.

Day 13. All scabs have now gone! I've heard in some cases the hairs can remain in certain individuals I can only hope my diet has always been super clean protein rich maybe that affects it? But I'm still expecting the grafts to fall. Here's a day 13 pic. Regards
