Hi,

Firstly thanks for viewing my thread. I'd like to share my hair transplant journey with you all, specifically for people who are considering getting a hair transplant. I've been considering a HT for a good 2/3 years now and I was so thankfully for posts on this forum from normal people having HT rather than famous celebs. I'm a normal 25 year old man from Scotland whose hair was receding badly and also thinning very quickly on top. I was pretty much bald on top and tried to cover that by combing over my hair from the side and also from the back to hide the bald patches. On a windy / rainy day::;mb I was very self conscious of my hair was sitting after being outside}:BY:>?. I done a lot of online research, read this forum a lot and went to a number of different clinic within Glasgow to see about a hair transplant. I decided in Feb that I was going to have the procedure carried out by Vinci at their Malaga clinic. Once I booked the procedure everything felt very professional and any questions I had between Feb and August were answered within a number of days. Once my procedure was booked Vinci arranged my hotel in Malaga and also transportation from the airport. One week before the procedure I received a phone call from one of the girls in Malaga to answer any questions I had and she also informed me of the pre-opp instructions (which were also emailed to me).

I arrived in Malaga on Wednesday evening and was met by the taxi driver with my name on a sign outside the arrival section of the airport. He drove me 5/10 minutes to the hotel which Vinci had arranged. The hotel was a lovely 4 star hotel which had breakfast included. It was situated 5 minutes walk away from the clinic and roughly about the same to the city center of Malaga. On the morning of the opp i was met by an English man named Phil in the hotel lobby who worked for Vinci and stayed in Malaga who walked me to the clinic. Once we arrived at the clinic Phil discussed how the day would go and introduced me to the Dr Santiago. Dr Santiago then took me into his office and discussed how the procedure would go and designed where he would extract the hairs from and then where he would insert them on my head. At this time I was given medication to aid the opp. After this I was taken into the changing room, changed into my gown and my head was shaved. I also was introduced to the technicians and had my before photographs taken.

Extraction

The first part of the procedure is with you lying face down on a bed, sort of like a massage bed with a hole for your head to fit through. Dr Santiago then applies the anesthetic to the donner area and tests that you can't feel pain. Through the full procedure if you ever felt pain all you had to was say and they would apply more anesthetic to the said area. The extraction process begun. For me this was weirdly therapeutic as you can hear the noise of the machine and can feel a sort of tickle on your scalp but no pain. This lasted around 4 hours and then it was lunch time. The Clinic provided lunch.

Planting

[size=After lunch you are lying on the bed face up, at this time you can watch a film or listen to music on the 42" telly which is on the wall within the room. Dr Santiago is behind you making the slits in your head for the hairs to be planted. Once all the slits have been made the]technicians then come in and plant the hairs in the slits.
After the procedure Dr Santiago discusses the post opp instruction, how to fit the hat if you are going out in the sun and also the post opp washing instruction etc. I'll attach a picture that was taken 10 minutes after the surgery in the changing rooms within the clinic (I would upload more pics but it's only allowing me to upload more. If anyone can tell me how to upload more pics that would be]appreciated!

Thanks for reading my]journey so far. If you have any comments or questions please don't be shy.

Thanks

Hi Phil,
Was nice meeting you too.
Could you advise how i upload more than one picture per post?? Every time I try to add another it just removes the previsouly selected pic and replaces it with the new one I selected rather than adding to it?
Thanks

Hi Renwick, thanks for uploading your pictures. The area covered should produce a nice result for you.

How many grafts did you get?

Hi Bigmac,
I've not got the official numbers back from Vinci yet regarding graphs etc but they showed me a sheet that had 2,500+ (can't remember the exact number).

Any tips / advice on any sort of cream or anything I could put on the donner area to help sooth the scabs and wounds?

Thanks

Saline spray is good to keep the area moist and reasonably scab free.

A little update for you all...

Here's a picture taken exactly 1 week after the procedure

You can see there's still a lot of scabbing etc round about the implanted graphs. This was taken after washing the area. At this stage I was only letting the water with shampoo in it run over the implanted area, no massaging was done.

This picture was taken last night after 3 days of washing with the oil & shampoo and also lightly massaging the area to try and remove the scabs.

You can see there's still a few scabs on the top of my head along with redness but it's starting to heal very well. Now awaiting all the hairs falling out in order for the growth to start. Donner area is now fully healed over.

All looks good at this stage. Soaking the scalp helps the scabs come off easier when massaging.

how you getting on mate? haven't been on here in a while and just seen your reply.

I'll make sure to keep an eye out next time i'm up livi centre, sure i'd recognise you just from the head hahah

Probably too late now but for the donor area I used this, seemed to soothe it quite well. It's really thick as well so you feel its getting good coverage and bedding in properly - https://www.lookfantastic.com/la-roche-posay-cicaplast-baume-b5-repairing-balm-spf-50-40ml/11259357.html?affil=thggpsad&switchcurrency=GBP&shippingcountry=GB&gclid=CjwKCAjw9O3NBRB3EiwAK6wPT8JWT38BJG-wveSshMDIFJgzII7JcdWt-pU8RtqPoo3jwrlsOEO3EBoCRy8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CPWSuIOsp9YCFTWH7Qod4soOaA

hope all is well.
