Does Permanent SMP look as good as Temp SMP coupled with FUE

4 awesome repairs with SMG
Ok so i have seen temp SMP results posted that have been done in conjunction with FUE that look good, but to press i haven't seen many perm SMP used in conjunction with FUE.
Is there a reason for this?.....does it not look as natural or is it simply because people don't want to risk the perm type in case they loose hair down the line and it looks odd*nl

Im pretty sure that temporary and permanent SMP look about the same, as far as that goes.

for the past few months ive made a conscious effort to ally with top HT guys in the New York area. The FUE+SMP combo therapy I believe is the future for many clients.

There should be no difference between temp and permanent and FUE other than the longevity.

Ill work on getting some photo cases for you guys.

Dear bullitnut,
Its not just about permanent smp putting the person in a stuck situation.
In the permanent smp, the pigments diffuse, i.e., leaks around the dot.
Putting more permanent dots in between with leaked texture will ultimately lead to a situation like a uniformly bluish green scalp.
The picture below can explain the points. Just zoom in and see the pigment diffusing/leaking around the dots.

Dear matt,
I do disagree with your statement that the only difference in temporary and permanent smp is the longevity.
The change of color and the diffusion of pigment beyond the initial dots are serious issues, imo.

Dr Arvind. What stops the temporary ink leaking around the dots?

Dr Arvind,

i kindly disagree with your statement as well. Permanent SMP, when using the correct pigment AND not over doing the amount of sessions should cause no such dispersion or migration of pigment. The reason i say "overdoing amount of sessions" is because if you overlay any type of pigment multiple times in an area of the scalp, it can cause an undesired change in color due to the heavy concentration of ink.

I have had many reoccuring clients that have returned 3-5 years post original sessions, and have yet to witness a "green" or "blue" tint. What will occur is a lightening of the initial pigment along a black-grey scale.

I am currently treating a client who has had 2,000 grafts of FUE, ill be sure to update with photos in a couple of weeks!

I agree with Matt, I have not seen a single case of migration of pigment, discolouration and so on, he simply picked someone that had poor work done and showed his photo, you will have poor practitioners and clinic doing both temp and permanent SMP.

I cant see any real advantage to temp SMP then it fades quickly, if you consider that an advantage.
