Hair turning grey after SMP

Hi guys,
I'm wondering if any experts could explain what would happen in the situation that your hair turns grey naturally after getting the SMP treatment?
I currently am 30 years old and have black hair but i know this could easily change. How would the black SMP look with grey back and sides? Is there anyway to fix this as i'm sure dying the shaved hair would be very difficult?
All advice and knowledge appreciated.

Hi RD7,
It is a very common question but actually not a huge problem that it initially sounds like it could be. Going grey is generally slow and progressive, so any change is subtle over time. With shaved hair the contrast between hair colour is less than with longer hair and the pigment tones blend with any surrounding shaved hair. The pigment will not change colour over time but will fade, and if a touch-up is required or wanted different tonal contrast can be applied to add a deeper or lighter tone dependent on the look that s wanted. Hope that helps.

Vinci, can I ask do all the technicians carrying out SMP in the various clinics all have the same experience and quality?
My worry is that the Belfast clinic may get sent less experienced technicians as presumably there are fewer clients in this location.

Hi RD7,

All our technicians are trained in-house and have to go through a process before performing scalp pigmentation. Regardless of location the technicians will perform your treatment to the highest standard, regardless if it is the largest or smallest Clinic, the size of the Clinic is irrelevant to the quality of the technician. In respect of Belfast, I have posted cases by technicians that work in Belfast and our Glasgow Clinics.

Reassuring to know. Would you have any pics off hand to post to see them?

4 awesome repairs with SMG
This question crossed my mind too when I first started reading about SMP a few years ago but recently my father in law who is going very grey and balding at the minute bit the bullet and shaved his head. I now can't see any grey and he looks much younger. So greying shaved hair certainly doesn't look grey when shaved to the bone. However I'm not sure what it would look like if he was completely white (ie severely grey?)

Hi bullitnut,

You are correct, if the hair was severely white/grey, or for that matter sheer blonde the contrast becomes less, assuming the skin complexion is also fair. If that was the case then pigment could be added to increase the contrast.

I would have quite dark skin. I'm Irish and not from a foreign background but I have tan skin so might be more noticeable. I agree against someone with fair skin would go unnoticed.

It is about the contrast more than colour, increasing the contrast has the effect of blocking the skin complexion, with either shaved or long hair scalp pigmentation, the application may vary slightly to achieve the result but the principle is the same. So, with a range of pigments it is possible to treat really any hair/skin complexion, some give a greater effect than others, but are treatable.

Does it cost much for any future top ups/adjustments after the first 3/4 pre-paid sessions?

Hi RD7, the initial sessions, especially the first can last 3-4 hours sometimes, then progressively less time. A touch-up is much less, sometimes just an hour so we charge per hour, 150.00 GBP p/h.
