SMP first session complete but pain was an issue

I recently had my first session done for SMP today, the total tattoo time was 3 hours, 2 hours then a food break then 1 hour after..

I felt sorry for the man doing the procedure as he kept getting very angry with me for moving but the pain was truely unbearable at times, each needle poke sent pain all over my head and i felt it all down my back, it even caused a strange stress feeling in my muscles which made me have to move.

He even said to me at one point to think about cancelling my future bookings but ive paid him £3000 and it looks very uncomplete at the moment!!

Does anyone know anything i could get to improve on the pain for next week as i really dont think I can handle it for a longer session

Strangely enough I usually am okay with pain, I have a full tattood chest, both ribs and a sleeve tattoo all the way down my arm, however the pain of the needle on my head was unbearable compared to my other tattoos which ive done 6 hour sittings perfectly fine

Hi and welcome.
Sorry to hear you suffered a lot of pain, usually it only creates mild discomfort. Did he not suggest anything to elevate the pain?
Have you a picture you could add.

Hey, thanks for the reply..

he did try to help with the pain alot, he only did it 5-8 dots at a time when he said he would usually do more

he tried his best but i could see him getting frustrated

I have been recommended tremadol by people for the pain but due to having bad lung health ive been advised by a medical professional to stay well away

Some hair transplant doctors will inject anaesthetic, this can only be done by a doctor or registered nurse. Otherwise numbing cream may help.

Hey Mate sorry to hear your experiencing this kind of pain , Would it not be an idea to have some pain killers 2-3 hours before the treatment and using numbing cream as BM said should do it , I had SMP however the pain was bearable but I did take some pain killers a couple of hours before , hope it all works out for you buddy and you find a solution thanks for posting .

Quick update everyone.

I actually fell ill after my treatment and had a really bad virus

I pushed my second treatment back a week and had it done yesterday.

the pain i felt the first session was clearly from the illness, i found my second treatment which was longer and far more intense alot less painful

also massive help my practitioner put a movie on to distract me during the treatment and made sure i was fine throughout! cannot thank him enough

Glad to hear your second session wasn't as painful....i always find it weird how when people have a distraction like a movie or some music to take their minds off the pain it seems much easier to undergo painful activities.
I know most HT doctors use TV'S/Movies or music to help patients but i wasn't aware SMP practitioners did this too.......good idea though.
