FUT scarring improvement using hair pigmentation
Although FUT has become a much less frequently used procedure, we still see some patients that want to have their FUT scar removed.
There are many factors that can alter the final outcome of a scar improvement procedure by hair pigmentation.
Overall we can say that using hair pigmentation we can optically ‘break’ the white scar tissue in order to give a better and softer, less visible, FUT scar line.
In some cases a small amount of FUE is used to place grafts into the scar in order to provide more realistic outcome.
But, even with the best efforts and techniques used a FUT scar can almost never be completely ‘undone’.
Best practice would be to avoid FUT scars as they are pretty much unpredictable and are much hard to improve.
In this example only hair pigmentation was used.
It gives a very good optical improvement and in real day to day situations nobody would notice the scar anymore.

- Scar width
- Colour contrast between skin/hair
- Length of the scar
- Position of the scar
- Is the scar flat, higher or deeper then the surrounding skin
