3395 Grafts Fue Dr Bisanga, Belgium

Hi, I Had 3395 grafts by Fue on January 24th...
I started noticing I was losing my hair around 5 years ago, I made a bad mistake in putting it to the back of mind and trying to completely ignore it.... 2 years into my loss I made the decision to contact a well known clinic in the UK to try and do something about it, they prescribed me minoxidil and Propecia which I would pay on a monthly basis (at a hefty price), I did this for a few months didn't notice much difference and decided it wasn't worth the cost, if only I found this forum back then I would have stayed on propecia and saved a huge amount of loss!
Fast forward to the beginning of August 2017 and now with a rapidly receding hairline and mid scalp, i decided i needed to really make an effort to save what i had so I began looking into hair transplants and doctors. This was a minefield for me, i never really knew how many different surgeons there was and how the level of skill contributed to the final result! After months of researching i narrowed my search down to 2 doctors; Dr Ferudini and Dr B. I emailed both doctors my pictures and began exchanging emails straight away, both Dr F and Dr B's representatives were extremely helpful and quick with their responses. After a few exchanges with Hilde who is part of Dr B's team i felt really comfortable and liked what they had to say, the Doctor had suggested rebuilding the frontal area and adding good density with between 2500-3000 grafts. They also had availability within 5 months of me contacting them whereas Dr F had an extremely long waiting, so i booked my slot for surgery for January 23rd/24th 2018.

Once it was booked and with a lot more knowledge i finally made the decision i should have made years ago and ordered Finasteride, i started taking it around early October and with the only sides being a slight bit of brain fog i have stayed on it ever since. To make things worse around 3 months into taking 1mg a day i noticed my hair was not only improving in both thickness and quality but i was growing lots of little new hairs around the hairline and temples, if only i'd stayed on it all those years ago!!
[sub][/sub][sup][/sup][sub][/sub][sup][/sup] The Surgery I booked my Eurostar train from London to Brussels the day before my surgery so I could have my pre-surgery consultation with Dr B, as soon as I met him I felt comfortable with my choice and was happy to be there. The consultation was extremely informative and after Dr B had carried out all his checks, drawn my new hairline for me to see and then taken all my pics I had my blood taken and went back to the hotel to relax ready for the big two days ahead.. now I won't bore everyone with all the fine details about the surgery but it went really well, was tough at times especially the numbing injections but overall it was fine and I couldn't wait to get home! I will try and keep updating as much as possible as long as people are interested that is!

My breakdown was:
1's: 591 2's: 1307 3's: 1411 4's: 86 Total grafts: 3395

Here are two pre op pictures.

Hi Jayboy.
Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing your story. The work looks very good and should produce a very nice result. Your post op healing looks right on track, just a little lingering redness there.
Now it €™s just the waiting game for those new hairs to appear.
I €™m looking forward to following your updates.
All the best.

Welcome to the forum dude, Dr B is a fantastic surgeon who produces some incredible results so I'm sure you will be very happy with the outcome. Your experience there sounds excellent and we all truly appreciate you taking the time to share your journey.
The post op pictures look great and should produce I super hairline when grown in.
Do yourself a favour and get a hobby or something that will take your.mind of your hair for the coming months as the waiting period can be hell dude......but so worth it when things start happening.
Please keep us updated as things happen, I can't stress enough how much we all appreciate it, posting helps other's make important informed decisions about their own hairloss.
If we can stop just.one patient going to crappy clinics by posting our results from quality surgeons like you have then it's a fantastic thing.
Take care BN

Just shy of the 2 month update..

I've grown the top out a bit since my last update, I have noticed hairs sprouting through but I am still not convinced they are transplanted hairs as it does seem quite early, I might shave it down to a 2 guard again tonight to try and have a proper look then. I do seem to have more hairs now than before the transplant and before I started finasteride. The redness seems to be slowing reducing and donor seems fine.

Can't wait for this next month to past.

You may be an early grower or the Finasteride could be working which would be very nice for you.
The redness can linger for a while but you learn to live with it. Everything looks fine to me at this stage.
Thanks for the update.

3 month pictures..

Its been a long and stressful 3 months but I finally feel like something has started to happen and I'm seeing more and more hairs sprouting through everyday.

Mid scalp and crown have started to thicken up nicely from finasteride.

I've also been out a few times now without a hat, I feel I'm maybe another month away from not having to wear the hat at all.

Hopefully will see more growth over the coming months!

Does the redness around your hairline area stand out in the cold light of day?

It does look like new growth has started. Good to hear the Finasteride is working and you`ve ventured out without the hat.
Your redness on the hairline is lingering a bit but should be easy to cover now.
Thanks for the update.

Dear jayboy61,
Thank you very much for the recent pictures.
The process seems to be fine at this stage.
New hairs can grow up to 7-8 months approx., and then all of them will develop in terms of calibre and volume.
Looking forward to see more in the next months.
Best regards,

Hi Jayboy.
It's looking good to me at 5 months. The hairline shape is there, density will follow in the next 7 months. Just got to be patient.
