How many grafts do I need and which surgeon? (video)

I'd suggest somewhere around 2000 grafts for the front. As long as you don't take the hairline too low this area could be restored effectively.

Your crown is clearly thinning as well, but I'd be inclined to leave that alone for now and try finasteride to see if it can be stabilised or even improved.

You sound like you've had some consultations already, what have been the recommendations so far?

Hi,

Agreed with Pete. 2000-2500 for frontal area depending on your hair characteristics and being conservative since crown is thinning.

Crown can improve with medication and it is important to manage donor properly.

How old are you?

Best wishes,

Ah ok, so you're on finasteride and it has stabilised your crown. Watching your video again, I was thinking the crown still looks pretty good, but the last few seconds appear to show significant thinning there. If that area is really bothering you then you could try a small number of grafts but it would need to be done with great care so as to try to avoid shock loss of your existing hair.

It depends how it is styled. It was damp in the video so kinda looks worse, if I comb it forwards it is less noticeable and if I spike it up its obvious. Also the video was taken with a webcam with 6 bright LEDs so the lighting is harsher than indoors. I can and do hide it with Toppik but id rather not have to.
How many grafts would you say? 2500 for hairline and 1000 for crown?

I'd say those figures dont sound far off. Donor allowing of course but yours looks to be pretty good. As I say, transplanting into your crown will be tricky though so choose your surgeon wisely.

Just a heads up in case your not aware (you probably are)but most of the clinics on here have Skype or similar so that they can give online consultations dude. Also depending on your location it would be beneficial to get some in person advice from different clinics to get a good idea.
I personally would be tempted to leave the crown and concentrate on the front for now.....i only say that as crowns can be a bit of a black hole and swallow up a lot of grafts before they make a significant difference..... and tbh yours doesn't look too bad as yet like the guys said....... You could always address the crown later and maybe use a touch of concealer now and again for now if you felt the need.
Just a thought dude, obviously it's your decision though and a doctor/clinic would be able to advise you much better so i would stick with what the guys are suggesting as they have more experience and knowledge.
I'm not really in a position to give graft estimates myself being just a patient, but from reading other threads and seeing similar cases over the years i reckon Pete and BHR sound bang on with their estimates.....just my opinion;)
Let us know how you get on dude.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

2500 fue and Proscar, avoid a strip if you can. With good fue you can always shave down if you eventually accept hair loss (which we all should)
