Dr Rogers (UK)- FUT 1900 GRAFTS - DAY 1 - 7

Hi Adam

No - I didn't do any scalp stretching exercises as my scalp felt was quite loose anyway. One thing I would do though is get a support for your neck when you are on the chair. You know the type of thing that you get when travelling. The reason why I say this is when they stitch up the donor area you'll be lying with your head against the chair ie right on the section that's just stitched - being in that position for a long time, plus with people prodding and plant in the graft can irritate the stitches. I remember I had some swelling on the side that was more against the head rest. By putting the support just between the neck and bottom part of the head you will take some of the pressure off the stitches.

Good luck. What doctor is doing the job? Always best to research the doctor. Put up your pics before and after shots as soon as you have it done.

Thanks for the advice Johnboy! Will keep that in mind when surgery time comes!

The doctor's name is Dr. Nesto Pissano and from what I have read on the internet, he seems to have a good reputation. (no links allowed)
I am aware that hair transplants are life-changing, however I don't know where to set my expectations. Just how much did your transplant do for you?

I haven't heard of him. I was offered the Spanish clinic but didnt want to travel just after surgery. It's very weird getting your hair done. For two or three years prior i was getting increasingly anxiuos about my hairloss. If i had a good shaped head for a shaved or cropped look then i wouldnt of had it done but i dont. I was getting thinner and thinner and more receeding so i knew that if i was going to do something about it then i knew i would have to do something about it soon or it would be noticable if i did. People started commenting about my hair receeding and i noticed it in photos too. Everyday I washed my hair and looked in the mirror i was seeing a max wall impressionist taking form and i did not like it one bit.
I used to dream about having my hairline back again and couldn't stop looking at other guys heads whenever i walked down the street. Counting the number of baldies vs the strong hairline types. It doesn't take a genius to work out that patterned baldness for most men looks ridiculous.

So as time was pressing on I went for it. The process itself is also very strange - its easy becoming obsessed with your hair through the growing phases with emotions up and down. I have managed the process pretty well- I kept my fringe longish and swept my hair a different way so people thought I just had a new hair style-I made out it was to cover my receeding hairline. They couldn't see any new growth occurring as it was covered and now that it's grown in and fuller they have'nt noticed a thing. I kept my receeding points just a little so it looks similar to before.
Now that I'm a year in im forgetting the anxiety that I had before but I am only just starting to relax with my hair - ie not spending too much time worrying about how my hair looks if the wind blows it off my forehead - lol!
I'm going back to get some density work done in certain places-some areas have grown in thicker than others. Also the right side of my hairline is too perfect for my liking ie straight so I'm going to get a few spaced out grafts put in to give it balance with my left. There is also a small patch on my left front needing filled which didn't take hold. I also want to add a few into my crown. I always thought I would need some refinement work done as having a 100% graft success is virtually impossible. After that I think that will be me for a while if not for good. It definitely has been an amazing journey and one I am so greatful for having the balls to have gone through. The best thing I've ever did for myself! Let me know how it all goes.

hi Johnny thanks for sharing your process. I'm at a similar spot at 4 months but my redness shows no sign of fading.
I wanted to know if the redness subsided and when. I'm looking at your photos and at the 6 month mark it is still visibly red in the recipient area. were you worried at all about the redness? anything to help it go away quicker?
Thanks for the reply.

Johnboy has not been on the forum for a while so maybe he has moved on and won't reply.
Could you possibly start your own thread with some pictures so we can see the redness.
Thanks Bm.

Hi - from four months on it started to rapidly improve. From memory by six months it was away. It's now been a few years since it was done and what I will say is that from time to time the transplant area does get a bit itchy - I put this down to dryness and sensitivity to gels and other hairproducts. Not sure whether I mentioned in previous posts that I went back for some crown work and density to the front. I'm over the moon with the results. Can't believe sometimes the difference when I look at old photos. Best of luck!

Hey johnboy,
Good to hear you're happy with your hair and it's had a positive impact on your life. Any chance of a final picture to compare before and after?
Thanks Bm.
