hi all,

i had a transplant of 3000 grafts with Dr Manoj Khanna at Kolkatta, India on November 17 2011. Its almost an year now and am seeing no visible growth in the trasnplanted area. I have read that for some guys it may take more than 12 months to see good results. Am wondering whether that is the case with me. I am attaching pictures as of today..that is just 13 more days to be one year after the surgery. Please advise me..Also am looking for some doctor in India who can give me a better results.

Yes, it's true patients do experience growth past the 12 month mark to 14 or even 15 months post op. However, they don't experience no growth till 1 year then achieve full expected yield sometime between 12-15 months. 90-95% of growth is achieved by 1 year mark for majority of patients. I've heard of slow growth but your case would be extreme. We're unable to ascertain if you truly have zero percent yield up to now because we don't have before pictures to compare. 3000 grafts should make a significant difference on you so the fact that you don't see any difference is troublesome at this stage. What has your physician/clinic said about your results?

It would be nice to see some before pictures of the implant area. Maybe you still had quite some native hairs in that region and they where lost to shockloss? Who knows and nobody can tell if you do not show some before pictures.
I believe it is pretty hard for any of the forum members to jump to conclussions without knowing all the facts.

I would concur with Janna and Bverotti, a transplant can take a good 12 to 15 months to come in fully but you would expect a lot of growth before then and also shock loss can be an issue. Some simply swap native hair for transplanted so although the transplanted hairs may have grown there is no real visible improvement and why education in terms of medication etc prior to surgery is also very much needed.

Crowns open in all directions and indeed surgery can speed this process up so something that most clinics would probably address when transplanting into diffused loss areas.

Again with no pre-surgery or placement photos nothing can be assessed from the ones posted other than you are losing in the crown area and forwards also so if not on medication then may be wise to look into it and expecially true if you have already invested 3,000 grafts from your donor resource.

Thank you all for the advice. I will try to post some before transplant pics soon. But is it possible that all the 3000 grafts did not grow at all. As my physician is in Kolkatta and I live far away, I am not able to see him. But I am planning to pay a visit to him.

In the worst case, this seems like my investment gone wrong and yielded zero result. And there is no way to redeem the loss!!!

Is there anyone who was treated by Dr. Arwind with whom I can talk? Sent a mail to Dr Arwind and is still waiting for the reply. Thinking of visiting him and getting his opinion.
