I got an email from the AA (automobile association, not alcoholics anonymous) with some great offers for anyone considering going to Brussels for a HT or a consult.

Those offers seem dirt cheap, Brussels would be an excellent place to go for a consult from the UK as you could go for a multitude of consults (prohairclinic, BHR, Dr Devroye, Dr Mwamba) I think they all work out of brussells.

Why is Brussels a hot bed of talent? Is there reasoning?

I was wondering about that exact same thing NN, it seems weird that there are so many clinics in one city, I would have thought they would have been more dispersed around europe. It's a shame they aren't all in amsterdam as you could have a consult and erm...... a beer.

I know in Brussels their Healthcare regulators are more strict than most of Europe, maybe they are the strictest.

Usually however the more strict, the less clinics. I wonder if it is a tax issue? Possibly they are taxed less? Does the government subsidize any healthcare? I would think that it has to be something like that---like how many athletes "live" in Monaco. Just a guess.

What a Tool
Yes, Belgium does seem to be a hotbed of talent. Dr Feriduni works out of Belgium but lives over the border in Germany- maybe it is the fact that there are hundreds of different beers available - they love their food, beer and chocolate over there!! Pity I was having a HT as I was ready to sample the ale!

I got a RyanAir flight which cost me about £40 including all the silly taxes so it was a good deal.

There are almost as many types of beers as clinics here; Medical laws in Belgium are very strict, especially on the French side; as for taxation and employment laws they do you no benefit either. Belgium does have a long history of medical specialist though.

Not sure re Canada,i usually get my flights through Expedia for most destinations.

I go on Expedia, get the flight details anfd then check the prices against whatever airline Expedia are quoting to see if its cheaper.

That offer from the AA is UK to Brussels.

BHR Clinic Patient Advisor
For those considering/wishing to visit BHR Clinic, the following information may be useful:-

FROM AIRPORT
Brussels has two Airports:-

Brussels National Airport 11 KM north of Brussels [BRU]
Brussels South [Charleroi] 40 KM south of Brussels [CRL]

If arriving at BRU airport then there is a special train that departs approx every 15 minutes during the week and every 20 minutes at the weekend takes 25 minutes to arrive at Brussels Midi a.k.a Gare du Midi, this is the Eurostar Station. The ticket price is 3 Euros.

If arriving at CRL Airport then there is a bus that takes approx 45 minutes and takes you to Brussels Midi and costs 13 Euros.

Companies such as BMI/BA/Air france serve Brussels BRU and low cost such as Ryanair/Wizz air serve CRL airport.

A taxi as also available from both airports if required.

Arriving by Eurostar
Eurostar provide regular trains direct to Brussels Midi from St.Pancras International a.k.a Kings Cross Station, London. There are several a day and if you book in advance one can pay as little as £29.90 for one way. I pay this regularly.

Journey time is 2 Hours and 95% of trains depart on time.

FROM BRUSSELS/GARE DU MIDI EUROSTAR TERMINAL
When you arrive at Gare du Midi you need to buy a single ticket for 1.70 Euro [1 jump] to get you to our Clinic. One per person, a return ticket will be needed.

You must validate the ticket prior to usage as it lasts for one hour and needs a date and time stamp on it. Ticket is valid for Tram and Metro travel.

Take the orange line [line 2] direction Simone [Elisabeth] 3 stops north and get off at Louise. Takes literally minutes.

FROM LOUISE BY TRAM TO US.
From Louise exit and come on to the street called Ave Louise. From there you take the tram as below. The ticket for the tube is still valid for the tram.

Tram 92 from Louise direction Fort Jaco get off at Ma Champagne, carry on walking straight and we are next to KBC Bank on the left. Tram takes approx 5 minutes to get to us.

Alternatively one can walk from Ave Louise to us in approx 15 to 20 mins.

As for a hotel, we recommend:-
