TELLY presenter Martin Roberts has told how he is thrilled with his £12,000 hair transplant and how it has revved up his love life. The star, who fronts BBC1 daytime show Homes Under The Hammer, admitted he had suffered a crisis of confidence over his hair loss.
But the married dad-of-two said he hopes his op will now extend his telly career as well as boosting his relationship with wife Kirsty.
He said: It was really starting to bug me that I was losing my hair, especially as I am on TV.
I was getting very aware of where the camera was in case it showed a particular area of my head.
It began to really affect me. I was even asking the cameramen to not take shots at certain angles so I knew I had to do something about it.
I had a three-month break in filming at the end of last year and I decided it was bothering me enough to be worth doing. The technology is amazing.
Hairs taken from the back of Martin s head were transplanted to his crown.
While it s not fully grown, it s 75 per cent of the way there and now it s brown and growing at the back.
It s a very personal choice. I didn t feel under any pressure from anyone else. Although, clearly my love life has improved and I can go like a stallion for hours now!
Martin has been fronting the popular property auction show alongside co-host Lucy Alexander for a decade.
In that time he has travelled 170,000 miles up and down the country to film more than 1,000 shows and around 12,000 pieces to camera.
Martin said he began to really notice the passing of the years when the show started making regular return visits to properties from earlier series.
He said: I would have to link into myself nine years before and I just didn t realise I had even changed or that fashion had moved on
