Quick 4 month update picture
Pleased with the progress so far but still waiting for it to get thicker on one side (as you can tell from the picture)
Hope you are all well.

Looking good at this early stage. It's usual for one side to grow faster than the other, it will catch up.
Thanks for the update.

Hello everyone,

Apologies for the lack of updates in recent months. My hair transplant has grown in to the point where hair loss isn't something I think about very much anymore (which is great!) but it meant I haven't really thought to keep this thread updated so sorry!

The pictures I have attached are from about a week ago (so about 7 months after the procedure). I have taken a front shot under pretty normal light and some shots under pretty harsh light. My phone camera's not great but hopefully you get an idea of how it looks.

I hope there's more to come but I'm really pleased with the results so far. My hair is really easy to style even without products and, like I said, hair loss just isn't on my mind day to day anymore which is really nice.

What has been on my mind recently though is finasteride use. It's definitely played a huge role in improving my hair quality but I have such a low sex drive from taking it. Seriously, this is what it must feel like to be 70+, not 24. I'll keep taking it for the time being but I really hope something better comes along. For me, it's just not a long term solution.

Other than that, really pleased with the results! It's really great not to be self conscious of my hair and I'm looking forward to trying out different styles as it grows out :)

Good to hear you are happy with how things are progressing at 7 months, you`re hair is looking good.

As for Finasteride, maybe you could try cutting the dosage slightly to see if it makes a difference.

All the best.

Quick progress picture at 8months. Also my last update was 6 months after surgery not 7
I am pleased with the results and don't really worry about hair loss anymore. It would be nice if new drugs come out soon though 1 because I could stop taking fin and 2 because you can always have thicker hair :)

Also if anyone wants any particular photos let me know. While the results are very good that picture might deceive you into thinking my hair is like that of someone who naturally has not lost any hair. With wet hair in certain light you can still see scalp. Still very pleased with the results though. :)

Sorry to keep posting e.g. This photo from a few days ago. I had just washed my hair with nizoral (which if you have used it you will know it makes your hair look and feel very dry and thin afterwards). As you can see under bright light my hair has a thin spot behind the fringe. Not noticeable most of the time and easy to cover up, It's likely I'll need a few more grafts there in the future

Looking great now, it does look like a full head of hair which is what transplants usually do, give the appearance as you will not get the same density back.
The thinner area behind the hairline still has plenty of time to mature with more growth.
All in all it's great so far.

Thanks for the update.

You hair looks great Billy, in the 2nd photo is your hair totally wet after using nizoral ?As if so it looks ok, when you hair is dark compared to skin colour I guess there is always a chance of seeing scalp compared to a person with lighter hair.

I'm 3 weeks post 4,800 HT with Dr Erdogan, the experience in the clinic was first class and I have no complaints. I went back to work 2 and a half week after the op, l had hair transplanted on reseeding hairline, in mid scalp and a bit of crown ( similar to you) at the moment people are shocked by my shaved head as my hair was at least 2 inches long on top before HT. I have managed to say the redness is a skin condition.....its surprising that no one has guessed that I had a HT.......... ( shows you how little the general public know about FUE) I was wondering what did you say to people at your work when you Transplanted hair started to fall out ? as I worry that I will get shockloss and the entire top falls out.......I have no idea what I'm going to say....at the moment 3 weeks gone not many hairs have fallen out.........also I have no idea what is old hair and what is transplanted hair in the recipient area, they all look the same.....could you tell in the early days ?........sorry for the long message, I'm going through that really doubtful stage thinking WTF have I done.....thanks Jimmy

Hello Billy_Baldman

Firstly, congratulations on your result, it looks really good mate, I would like to ask if u got PRP Treatment also?

Dr K advertises it on his website and I think he does it with most of his clients.

Would it be possible to see your donor area in a picture also? I'm just turning 25 and currently doing research into HT's and top class surgeons. I'm currently on minoxidil and use Nizoral just now, I'm am not sure where to get a prescription for Fin, if I was to take it, it would be a very low dose. You mentioned in previous posts that you no longer worry about everyday hair loss, I'm very jealous haha.

Did the Dr stipulate how much donor area you will have left for any possible future procedures?

Thanks

Hello mate,

No, I didn't go for PRP. Jury's still out on it but I thought I'd go without and save the 300EUR or whatever it is. I might be wrong but I believe even Dr. K says it doesn't help regrow hair - only that it helps the recipient area recover more quickly.

What's your hair loss situation like (Norwood classification) now? You're about the same age as me and people will try and advise you against it, saying you're too young. I wouldn't listen to them. It's still early days for me yet but I'm so glad I got it done. What's the point of waiting until you're 30+? I'd much rather have hair in my twenties and deal with the consequences later!

This brings me to your question of donor area. IIRC Dr. Koray said my donor area was 8000 grafts, so I'll have around 4000 left for the future. So, if my hair loss does progress (it still seems to be getting thicker!) I have quite a lot left. In reality I would go super aggressive with donor to maximise hair on top if it came to it so I reckon I have more like 5000 grafts left if I need them. If you're worried you're too young to get a hair transplant, you can always get another one later to fill in any gaps (if you have decent donor area)!

But on that note, it's well worth getting on finasteride. Hair loss is unpredictable and I want to put off getting another HT for as long as possible. That said, I only take 0.5mg EOD now and my hair never falls out when I touch it or whatever. I don't use minoxidil either. I have, however, introduced a number of other changes (some just for general health) which I firmly believe slow further hair loss progression (CBA to mention them for fear of getting into a debate, message me if you want to know).

Don't have a pic of my donor area on here but TBH there's not much to see. It pretty much looks like anyone else's! I get my hair cut at 0.5 on the sides and even then you can't tell. Dr. Koray is definitely good for that. FUE is the way to go - even if by some disaster I use up all my donor hair by 35 and have to shave my head, I won't have visible scars.

Hope this answers your questions and good luck! Can't recommend Dr. Koray and hair transplants in general enough. For me, my hair transplant was a catalyst for a number of other positive changes I made in my life. It's liberating not worrying about hair loss anymore.

So this is about 18 months after surgery.
Will post a pic of my donor area next time I get a hair cut so you can see what it looks like.
