Topical Finasteride- Available to those in the EU with a prescription

I thought I would bring to those on this forum that were not aware that topical finasteride is now available to those in the EU from a pharmacy in Italy. Dr Hasson has been working with a Dr Castiglioni to produce a preparation like we have been prescribing to patients of the clinic in the last two years. For more information you can drop me an email at [email protected].

I have attached some photos of a patient that has been on the topical for 6 months now and Dr Hasson was very pleased with his progress so far.

Dr Hasson posted this on a hair loss blog recently.

Our topical Finasteride solution that we have been using for the past 2 years has proven to be very effective . It has been used primarily in patients who had been experiencing side effects on the oral drug. These patients have been free of side effects on the topical formulation. This is a good sign that the drug is unlikely to be going systemic via cutaneous permeation. We are currently performing tests using Franz diffusion cells with the The University of Milan to get more data.
Once we have secured a reliable source for Dutasteride we will start testing topical formulations with this drug as it will likely be more effective.
A new liposomal formulation of topical finasteride is currently available to our European patients. It has been developed in collaboration with Farmacia Parati in Italy. This preparation can be obtained from this company . You will require a physicians prescription for this as the formulation needs to be compounded on a case by case basis (to comply with European and FDA regulations).

My apologies for a late response. Sadbutrue- The topical is made up patient by patient so needs to come with a prescription. For guys in the US you could obtain a prescription after an assessment by the Doctors but is difficult without you being seen in person. It comes in a gel and can be used if you are taking the oral. I may try it myself and pick some up as I am in the clinic currently and give it a go.
A 100 day supply is $170 CAD plus shipping. As I understand we are looking to make it easier available in the US. Will keep you posted if and when that happens.
Bullit- We shpuld have more coming as we are asking patients to keep us posted of the results it looks promising.

Sincere apologies. I have been inundated with enquiries by email on the topical.

We have over 100 to perhaps 200 patients on the topical and we have not had reported side effects at this stage but that is only a small study. Can we guarantee no sides effects? No.

I don't have any other results from just the topical at this stage but more and more people are getting onto this so expect more to come. Yes you can use Minoxidil together with the topical. To be clear this is not a product that we are marketing it is not our intention to sell this it is something that we have been getting the local pharmacy to compound on a patient to patient basis to try to help patients that suffer side effects from the oral medication. So far results have been good I hope that continues to be the case.

I understand there are other versions of a topical finasteride on the market.
