To help lose weight and build some muscle tissue which is the better exercise to do Biking or running?
Both are flat and inclines, not cross country, trekking etc.

Sprints are really good for burning fat/building muscle.

A good method I use (that helps the time go by fast as well) is to sprint for 30 seconds, then walk for 30 seconds - over and over for a couple of miles. Even if you just do this for 10 minutes, you'll get a heck of a workout. *You can also do 15 second intervals if you want - but the goal is to walk the same amount that you sprint.

Be careful with the knees though - as with any sort of running/biking. If you can avoid pavement, that'll be much easier on you in the long run.

Good advice pkipling, what about a decent excersise bike, would that be any good too for loosing substantial amounts of weight?

I guess it depends on you like what kind of workout you really want to do. Biking usually targets your lower-body, which means it's good if you want to improve your lower-body.like your legs. On the other hand, running is surely a full body workout. It's a full cardio activity.

I prefer biking in trails. It's nice to ride while watching the scene.
