My hair transplant experience with Dr Eberson

Hi all, I have visited this forum many times and i would just like to thank you all for sharing your experiences its really helped me over the last couple of years while I've gone through a couple of procedures so its my turn to share my experiences.

I lost my hair at quite a young age,i was about 25 when i finally gave up and started shaving my head all the time and i was fine with that until about 3 years ago when someone mentioned about getting a hair transplant,at first i just dismissed the idea,i didn't think it was possible for a start but also i was worried about the stigma attatched to having a hair transplant,my friends would all enjoy a good laugh about it and explaining to collegues would be awkward too,but the idea wouldn't go away so eventually i started doing some research, and to my surprise i discovered there is a thrieving industry with lots of people taking the plunge and having great results!!

I finally decided to have a consultations with what i thought was a very professional and competent company, its possible that they actually are but my experience with them wasn't great! At my consultancy i was told i needed an extensive amount of grafts, around 4000 which i totally agreed with seeing as i was at the least a norwood 6,sadly the price of about £9000 was well out of my price range so i decided that although i was very interested id have to put it on hold.A few weeks later i was contacted again by the consultant and offered a chance to particapate in a trial called auto cloning, there would be no charge and if the procedure didn't work then id of lost nothing as the procedure involved plucking hairs rather than fue so my donor area wouldnt be affected for future surgery, anyway a long story short i went to there clinic in london where i was given the auto clone procedure but at the last minute i was told i needed a handful of fue grafts to place next to the auto clone implanted hairs in order for the procedure to work, the outcome?i was basically left with a hairline and nothing behind this,i wasn't best pleased.

Fast forward around 8 months i contacted a clinic in glasgow and told them all about what had happened, they were very friendly and helpful so i went to see them, during the consultancy where i also met dr eberson i decided to go for it again,i was to have 2000 fue grafts, the procedure went great and i was very happy with how it looked, very clean and it all healed up within a couple of weeks which surprised me as my hairline strip took a lot longer to heal, all went as i was told it would concerning re growth, within 3 to 4 months it was starting to grow through and by 12 months it had grown through quite nicely(i will attach plenty of pictures),it wasn't as thick as id liked it to be but i always knew i would need another HT.

Went back to the clinic and discussed my next procedure to fill in the crown and i was advised i would need another 2000 grafts which i thought was reasonable, i was told that dr eberson no longer performed surgery there, i was very happy with dr eberson and the Glasgow clinic. i really wanted to stick with the same doctor as i was happy with my results so more research entailed and i found dr eberson has his own clinic in amsterdam, the Eberson Clinic,i contacted the clinic and was asked to send through all the pictures id taken since my last procedure,i was delighted when dr eberson called me personally to discuss what i wanted from my next procedure,i was very happy how that conversation went and went ahead and booked myself in for november this year.

I went over on the ferry as i didn't fancy going through airport security after having surgery, the hotel dr eberson booked me into was very pleasant and within a 5 minute walk from his clinic, which by the was is situated in the museum district of amsterdam, when i arrived at the clinic i was greeted by one of the hair technicians, offered a cup of coffee and chatted while i waited for dr eberson, the procedure itself went even better than the last one in glasgow, this time around dr eberson had his own team around him and this seem to make things run so much smoother,i actually fell asleep a few times during the surgery, over the 2 days i had around 2100 fue grafts,i was amazed that i felt virtually no pain or discomfort after this procedure and the donor and recipient area is so clean,6 days post op and I'm virtually healed up,all in all going back to dr eberson was definitely one of my better decisions, the clinic is fantastic and dr eberson was very honest and was very eager for my input,he did exactly what i asked for rather than telling me what he thought i should have,in my opinion the eberson clinic has to be up there as one of the top clinics in europe,i hope this has been helpful to anyone looking for a good clinic to discuss your options,if anyone wants to ask me any questions please feel free.

Really looking forward to seeing your final result paulc0751. i am sure you are going to get a fantastic result. dr eberson work is impressive of what i have see so far. i think you did the right thing using the same doctor again. may i ask which clinic it was which left you with that strip of hair?

Hi rocket thanks I'm sure my results will be fantastic I have a lot of confidence in dr eberson,I wasn't sure weather I should say who left me with the strip but I suppose it doesn't really matter it's not like I can't prove it you've seen the pictures,it was Vinci that offered me the auto cloning and I was eventually left with the strip when the auto clone hair fell out

I think its best to stay away from large chain hair transplant clinics in my opinion paulc0751. I nearly went ahead and used another large chain clinic myself a few year ago. the usual pushy salesman, techniques really put me off in the end. They are all about marketing over quality. you do right naming the clinic, i would do exactly the same. ;)

Hi rocket to be honest the salesman wasn't pushy at all he was very honest to be fair, did you have a transplant yourself?

Without taking away from paulc's thread and result, well done by the way; here is a little more detail.

To create a €œstrong € hairline as suggested in one of the pictures requires around 600 single hair grafts just in the first few mm €™s, to then work back 2 cm €™s or so can require around the same number with multiple hair grafts.

The picture posted by paulc gives the impression a strong hair line was created, with a high density, this was not the case, maybe the poor focus or lighting of the picture makes it appear so, we can post more pictures with higher definition which clearly show a low density was placed.

As paulc says prior to his test there were consultations about traditional hair restoration, discussing FUE, FUT and the possibility of combining the two. After paulc's initial procedure we followed up on both the test and discussed future hair restoration, as that was always obviously the plan, at no time did paulc suggest or tell us he was unpleased.

The number around 1700-2000 FUE was discussed to properly rebuild his hair line and add density over the frontal; this we followed up 6 months post-test, but heard nothing back. It appears around a couple of months later to our last contact paulc was in contact with Dr. Eberson, and decided to have his surgery with him, similar graft numbers to our suggestion.

We €™re happy for you paulc and wish you all the best with your new hair!]

Hey PaulC, any updates mate? I've seen a few examples of Dr Ebersons work and it looks fantastic including your own procedures. Did the clinic pick you up from the port or did you make your own way there? Also, what was the name of the hotel you were booked into? Look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Scotsman91 I am actually looking to put some updates on today,I'm sorry for the time it's taken to reply I haven't been on the forum at all in ages,I actually drove over to Amsterdam so no need to be picked up,I decided to drive as I didn't fancy going through airport security with my head looking a bit strange if you get my meaning,I stayed in the concert hotel which is only about a 5 minute walk from the clinic,if you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask and I'll make sure I monitor the thread more!!
Here is a picture of the crown that was taken in June so that's 7 months post op

Great result eventually. My procedure was carried out by several members of the team at Glasgow rather than just one individual.

Looking great, total transformation. Your crown is looking good also at 7 months, they usually take longer to grow in and mature.
Thanks for the update.

It was basically the same set up there was dr eberson and two nurses, and as for eventually it does take up to a year or some times longer to see the full results,I'm still losing a bit on the back and to be honest after using regaine for the last 3 years I really don't think it works for me
