Its always had to reply to certain questions .
From the last picture you uploaded you can really see how far you have come with your HT Journey and your transformation , In my sincere opinion its a good practice to take care of the frontal third and work back however saying that its all about density and your expectations its your DONOR , you already said its the first point that people see when they see you and you been an entertainer it just makes sense to do this , again it will depend on what the donor capacity is left , of course the crown is important but you can always have some SMP in their as well and having had a it done myself its great especially when their some hair their , thank you for sharing and as always thank you for sharing your journey with the forum

Thanks Daz - The only big question is that my hair loss in the front could stabilize and I implant more there and then my crown becomes thinner and i run out of donor hair!? Even the doctors won't know but they said they could implant hair in the frontal 'island' patch but they have to be careful not to ruin the existing follicles. But again - i may loss all that middle island patch in the front or I may keep it...and because I don't know - we don;t know where the next 6000 FUE should be implanted? - They said I have sufficient donor hair for another procedure. Yes front is what everyone see's and that's the most important.
What is SMP?

Happy New Year all - not been on here for a while.

Just an update from me - as I am now 14 month post surgery.

New hair growth is really thick now and this is as good as it will get - however i have notice the island looks thinner int he middle - to compare - let me remind you. - The pic taken directly after procedure. 6,425 FUE

You can see some great changes between the 3rd & 6th month post procedure.

NOW 14 months - this selfie is pretty poor photo but you get the idea - look how thick the new hair is in the front but also notice the 'tin tin island' in the middle has got thinner? - Also how much thicker the new hair is in the frontal zone around the left and right temples.

5879_200711_400000000.jpg

That above photo was at it's very worse because I am by the window under daylight and bright weather but this is to show you the close-up of the new transplanted hair. - I do cut it occasionally btw :)

I booked my second procedure for 26th/27th April 2017.

Hopefully the density in the middle and crown will improve without damaging existing 'island' hair roots.

Also - I do notice that even my the new (transplanted) hair does fall out when I comb it and shampoo - but will this still grow back? - You can tell it's transplanted hair because it looks more wiry and much thicker. - I do comb/style it back and across like a quiff and it's not noticeable then. - (The thinner island patch in middle).

How does this look to you - and is this normal that even transplanted hair can still fall out as part of the growth cycle like natural hair?

Thanks Daz. Also worth noting I haven't taken any propecia or minoxidil. Just some nanogen fibres when I go out. - The only big question is that my hair loss in the front could stabilize and I implant more there and then my crown becomes thinner and i run out of donor hair!? Hi Friend
Check the Scalp Micropigmentation section on the forum I had some done in my crown it lasted for nearly one year and I had a top up its TEMPORARY INK , its not for everyone but worth researching if wanting to keep precious DONOR for a later date and age should be taking into consideration especially if Hair Loss runs in the family , I had little hair at the front when I had my 1st HT and they filled it in am sure your going to be fine mate
All the best

Did you take any medication? - I have heard of this funnily enough but didn't feel it was practical - i just want more hair and didn;t want to go bald. - Even if I were married i would still do this but perhaps maybe less concerned to be frank but still - i couldn't cope with hair on the sides and back with a blob (island) in the middle - like what I had. - I guess my main concern was if i continue to lose hair in the middle (island) patch which you can see, it would look like there is a whole there and that I am suffering from the alopecia areata type hairloss or have undergone Chemotherapy. - I don't want that to happen. The below photo, you can vaguely see it - the centre tin tin island is looking thinner. Shall I implant more there or wait until hairloss stabalised? - it looks thinner because not combed over.

How long was it between your procedures!?

Hi Mate

I have been taking Finasteride Daily 1mg and using the Rogaine Foam once every night , and it certainly helps , its a personnel choice and you should research before you decide to use it, my own personnel experience with the Dr who done the work on me was never going to leave the middle bit at the front he planted in their as well its your call but I would do what feels right for you, its obvious it bothers you so make the call have agreat day

Cheers

Thanks, so has propecia helped? Do you have pics? - It's not an easy decision really because it depends on the extent of hairloss and if it does continue - I started losing mine at 23 and I am now 33 - so who knows it may stablise!?

But also what's difficult is that some guys lose hair differently and don't have the island patch or if they have the island patch they still have plenty of natural hair on their crown, yet some lose their hair in the frontal zone only or crown only and don't recede as much and they have more hairloss on the back or middle and vic-versa etc.

Can I ask how old you are and when your hairloss started!?

Hi Friend

Well I have always had a high forward from my early twenties but would have to say that when it really started to effect me was around 2006-2007 as I started wearing baseball caps all the time , did not like going out as much and certainly did not like the way I was losing my hair , My HT journey is well documented on this forum so have a look , am coming up to 56 years old in a couple of days however I have to say the last 3-4 years have been amazing since I got some self esteem back and confidence , the Finasteride has worked for me am sure your Dr will advise you accordingly

Cheers
Daz

Supersmooth, thanks for your very honest overview of your hair journey. I am very surprised that your clinic did not talk to you about medication to slow down the loss of your native hair. It was clear from your photos that you had a extensive pattern of loss and while hair loss may slow down as we get older it rarely stops.
As you are finding you are now needing a further surgery to thicken the areas behind the hairline just a couple of years later. This will continue unless you try something to stabilize your loss. Propecia and Regaine are the most effective out there and you should talk to your clinic about these.
I have personally been using Propecia for 11 years now and I have stopped further hair loss during that time.
Good luck for your next procedure.

Hi David - Thanks for your thoughts and following my hair journey.

It was discussed but i am on other medication too and i don't want to start rattling! I have taken minoxidil too for almost 10 months and never saw any improvement - it just made my scalp itchy and gave me dandruff so I stopped using it because it became a nuisance and pricey, my hairloss resumed. - at anyrate this would have to be taken for the rest of your life, safe for propecia and i don't have the budget for it.

I do use Alpercin Caffine shampoo and Alpercin liquid to stimulate the hair roots.

What are your thoughts on my second procedure - do you think I could have more hair implanted in the thinning island patch!? - as seen in photos?

I think adding more hair behind the hairline and into the mid scalp would be your priority, I would not go chasing the crown at this stage. If you build up behind the hairline it will make a good improvement.
All the best with your surgery in April.

Thanks for advice and I agree as it's the most important part and what everyone first notices when they see you. Frontal zone is important and this is my concern. - That if I did lose more hair in the frontal patch 'island' then it would look like a thin circular hole like I suffered alopecia Areata.

But hairs can still be implanted when there is existing hair - albeit thinner like in the island?

Out of interest - why not the crown at this stage?

Thanks

Sean

Been styling my hair in a very old fashion Mr Bond style almost Bouffant with gel for the first time 14.5 months post procedure - looks good from front but still notice the middle looks thin - also is it OK to use hair gel or will this damage the new transplanted hair or make it brittle?

It's ok to use gel and any hair product within reason...but in my opinion it is going to make your hair look worse so I would try something else like clay for a paste.
Thanks for the photos always good to see how happy you are.

Thanks - just had it cut - but will hair gel damage the new hair? What sort of clay?

No the gel will not damage your hair unless you never wash it out. Any styling clay would work. Find one that you like the texture and smell of lots out there that are basically the same thing.

Hi Supersmooth. My friend has his transplant done at hairpalace around a year ago and seeing his hair transformation for myself has made me confident in going there. Your story just helps with the decision as your hair transformation is amazing!
Do you know if they require a patient to shave their head before the transplant? I would hope I could just have it short like a number 3 all over rather than shaved with a 0?
My hair is very thick in the sides and back so im hoping that would provide really good donor hairs. I am thinning at the front zone 1 and back zone 3 but the middle section zone 2 seems ok. I am thinking about getting 6000 hairs done. 4000 front and 2000 back.
Would you be willing to upload a recent picture of your hair?
Thanks

Hi James - It's good to hear from you. Yes they do shave it - so that any existing hair doesn't stick to the newly implanted grafts or obstruct it - so you would look like a monk at first.

I had a great experience at HP which is why I am going back for the second procedure.

Let me have your email address and I'll answer any questions you need to know - you can mention my name Sean Moon aka (Magical Moon). If you look back you can see the before and after photos.

It's a big decision to make James so i can understand your anxiety. In fact a couple days before there were many "what if's" in my mind and of course the money etc that i almost bailed out last minute, but glad I didn't - So it is not an easy decision, especially having it done abroad so if I can help I would be delighted to.

my email is [email protected]

Regards

Sean

Thanks Sean, Just emailed you.
How's your hair loss going? You taking minoxidil or propecia?
I am back in Budapest hair Palace under going second procedure, to dense up zones 1 & 2 u improve density.
So far so good.
Hate those injections at first but I.am use to the procedure now.
Dosed off for about an hour in clinic but all went well. Today they extracted 2581 hairs and implanted in zones 1& 2.
The island patchbi had was considered zone zone 1.
Tomorrow they will extract additional 2500 hairs and implant in zones 2 & 3 if enough donor hair is available.
