You`ve had a lot of grafts over the two surgeries now. Your donor area is naturally going to be thinner but looks ok with your hair longer.
Good growth to you and thanks for keeping a great documentation of your progress.
All the best.

Thanks BM - Glad I still have hair re-growtihn donor area - I was worried that would look bald - I mean to think for one minute that a total of 11,450 or so hairs that have been extracted from the back donor area (including the first procedure!) God knows how they count and who does the math but amazing. I also heard that some follicles (about 10%) can re generate and re-grow new bulb and hair in the donor area

- It's quite remarkable to see it still grow back in donor area albeit looking thinner. If you see the above pick you wouldn't tell some 11,450 hairs have been extracted right? I was worried during the second procedure if I would have enough donor hair to extract and implant 5,000 hairs to improve density and it seems like it's a success (so far). Just look forward to some regrowth. The Doctor implanted some more hair in that 'island patch' at the front to improve it's density too. Hopefully hair that is implanted into a zone where there is existing hair like my island patch will still grow back just as dense and good in texture, same as if it was implanted into bald patches like my left/right temples and crown during first procedure?

I always wonder how do the surgeons /Doctors know from where the donor hair begins and the natural hair ends etc?? Do they test it?

The clinic did say that if I wanted more density in the crown - to wait 24 months (2 years) before my 3rd procedure - if i decide to have one.

The Doctor implanted a further 54 hairs in the circled part of the crown just in case this gets thinner.

6.5 weeks post second procedure and remember the island in the front? There was some new hair implanted among st the existing hair as it was thinning but Now look?

Do you think I am suffering some shock loss? Or is it the natural hair getting thinner in the circle frontal zone or just the implanted hairs fallen out? or perhaps the new transplanted hair growing back that's making the island in the circle look thinner?

Fingers crossed for some re-growth.

I also have another question as there are some stalled hairs like first procedure - which causes itchiness. I have a few stalled hairs similar to first procedure - and they slide out with my fingers or tweezers - when you slide them out is it just the hair shaft? I assume the root doesn't come out? Because surely if it was the root, there would be blood and the stalled hairs wouldn't slide out so easily!?

I have heard that there was more hairs which were carefully implanted into the frontal 'island' patch so that they do not damage the existing hair, they didn't say how much but you can see in this pic directly after the procedure - seeing as the island patch is thinning too, they said this will add some density to it. But with extra hair being added to where I already have natural hair (island patch) they did say that I now have plenty enough hair in the front even if it get's thinner . However, the middle will get thinner too but they said I could comb the front back and the hair and the crown forwards if that's noticeable. However the middle part of the scalp isn't as important - Front is the most important as you may agree and the crown because that's what people notice when they see you. What do you think?

Attached a pic of me directly after the second procedure.

PS - I am now @ 7 weeks post second procedure.

4 awesome repairs with SMG
Stalled hairs are usually just the hair shaft but I've seen some pictures where they will have some dead tissue attached.Your hair is looking good.

Is the dead tissue part of the root? I am very interested to see how the new hair will grow back in the frontal island patch (where there is existing hair) albeit thinning.

I'll upload photos of my crown and donor 2 months post procedure. :)

Thanks btw.

In grown hair or what? Pimple has popped' it's been around for almost a month now. I am just over 10 weeks post (second) procedure expecting new growth in coming months. What shall i do? just dab it with water and sponge? does this mean this follicle is dead ???}:BY:>?

I have had pimples before and during my last surgery but usually they disappear but this one just popped and bled - what do you recommend? have any of you ever experienced a popped pimple in the implanted zone?

Looking good. At least you know it's a waiting game this time round.

Thanks! Yes - see some tiny hairs at the surface between existing hair but i must admit - I am not feeling that excitement' i felt during my first procedure. The donor area can't be too short or else it would look too thin and as if I have some allergy - where the extraction was.

I did hear The new hairs will grow at my normal rate all over on the transplanted areas, including the middle of the front (island patch). - which was thinning too! I was informed that the presence of other hairs in the area does not affect their growth.
Bottom line - First procedure is to reconstruct/bring forward the frontal hairline and work on the crown - where the bald patches are visible. - So I now have this lovely D shape for frontal zone,
Second procedure - To dense up the front and the areas that are thin especially the middle of the front around and in the island patch, with more density in the middle and the crown.
Time will tell.

Look forward to some regrowth.

A quick update as I am almost 5 months post second procedure and it's been a long 5 months. I had a total of 5034 hairs implanted. During the first procedure I had 6425hairs implanted!!

So far I am less than impressed with the new growth compared to 5 months post first procedure.

Perhaps this could be because this time during second procedure the hair was implanted where there is existing and thinning hair and therefore less noticeable where as before during my first procedure the hair was implanted in bald areas like the front and new hairline etc = more excitement.

Do I need to be a little more patience for my second procedure or should I be seeing more visible results by now like i did around this time during my first procedure!?

You can see the results around the 5 month mark in photos if you go back a few pages!

I would take some photos but the changes are not yet visible or noticeable! At least the new hair from first transplant procedure has grown back ok so far. Look forward to seeing some more visible growth soon.

Hi Supersmooth.
Lots of patients report slower grower after their first HT. Try to be patient as it should come through. Keep in touch with the doctor too.

Yes a lot slower - I asked if it's do do with the existing hair and they said no. Maybe it's less noticeable because the implanted zones (in the second procedure) are not bare or bald patches like first procedure.

Obviously the new hair growing where there's already existing hair around it (albeit very thin) so I guess the new growth will be harder to see and therefore less noticeable.
Just have to be patient.

Will be keen to hear about others who have had a second procedure to dense up and how they have notice the difference in growth between the first and second procedure and if they have found that the new growth of hair is taking longer than during the first procedure where new hair was implanted into bald areas!?

You may have some shock loss or your hair may be going through a shed which can make you think you're not getting much growth.
Again, all you can do is wait and try not to worry about it as you should be ok in a few more months.
