The first few months are definately the hardest waiting for everything to return to normal. You look right on track.

So far so good Tam. Are you using minoxidil on the recipient area?

Yes Scotsman91 I use Minoxidil twice daily, as I had been doing the year prior to the procedure. I also use a ketoconazole shampoo and good vitamins, although I have absolutely no interest in using finasteride. Are you seriously considering a procedure with Dr Eberson? If so I'd be happy to discuss anything you have questions about. Cheers.

Thanks mate I appreciate it, yeah I am considering him, however, I'll be 25 in a few months so I don't think I'd be a good HT candidate atm because of my age, I think I would rather wait till I'm about 27/28 before undergoing one so right now I'm just doing my homework on top surgeons including Dr Eberson and 2 other doctors in Belgium.

I have only seen a few cases for him but they have been excellent quality. Do you know if Dr Eberson does consultations in the UK? I emailed his office using the email address on his website but I have not heard anything back and that's been a month.

Just like yourself I have no intention of using Finasteride, I use Mioxidil solution every day, Nizoral shampoo twice a week and Biotin supplements daily In hope of maintaining what I have for the next few years.

Are you able to feel the hairs coming through? Hope you're well, looking forward to your update.

Everything is going well thus far, those pictures are from this morning so 13.5 weeks post op. I feel like the right-hand side is coming along faster than the left which seems to be very common (one area to grow faster than another). Dr Eberson's expectation was that I would see decent growth towards the end of May so I feel that is quite possible now as alot of people say things really progress from month 4 onwards and I'm not at that stage yet. I'm still covering the recipient area with existing hair although this will eventually look more awkward the more new hair I get. We're going to Spain on holiday at the end of June so I'm quite tempted to buzz everything to the same length at that point as I'll be out of the country and out of sight for two weeks lol. Overall I'm very happy so far, everything has gone very smoothly.

All looks on track at 3 months. Buzzing the hair for your holiday should help you but will you be ok when you get back home?

The above pictures are around the 16 week mark. I see and feel a pretty significant shift from the last batch of photos about three weeks ago so hopefully now that I'm almost four months in the next few months will see things really start to happen. The right temple is doing better at the moment although overall the hairline area is visible now, which is cool as it's a good indication of the framing :)

Your results are starting to look really good as it grows in, I guess its seemed a long 4 months since surgery but looks like the fun bit for you now.
Can I just ask how long you left it until after surgery to start using Minox again? Also, are you taking any other meds at all and if so have there been any side effects?
Kind regards,
Bongo

Hi Bongo. I stopped using Minoxidil two weeks prior to the procedure and started again two weeks after. It's a necessity although I was concerned about stopping for a month, that said it didn't have any impact. I have no side effects from Minoxidil. I don't take Finasteride. I use a ketoconazole shampoo and take Vitamin B supplements (I tried Biotin but it made me feel nauseous). I asked Dr Eberson his opinion on Finasteride and he agreed that for my situation it was not really necessary, which I agreed with as it was not something I was really willing to consider. Are you taking or considering using anything?

Cheers for the reply Tamconch.
I was using Minox for a couple of months prior to surgery. I really do not like the stuff at all as I have very sensitive skin and it flakes it no end, but I do realise I need to get back on it to make my HT experience worthwhile. Thanks for your advice, I will probably start it agin in a week or two.
I use biotin and have been for a couple of months and although I'm not convinced it does anything as I haven't had any side effects I'll probably carry on with it. I also use Nozoral shampoo a couple of times a week.
Since surgey I've been taking saw palmetto once a day and so far no sides. I'm hoping that taking it will make the step to fin a little easier for the body if it has to come to that. Me and you have quite similar hair loss so I'm hoping that like you I can get away with Minox as the main combat tool going forward. The stories about fin scare me but maybe much of that is the placebo effect. I hope I'll never need to find out! Kind regards, Bongo
