As my hair is thin what is the best product to style it so it doesn't look more thinner that it already is? I usually use American Crew Fiber or Dax wave and groom hair dress which is a type of wax (red tin). Any better suggestions I could try? Cheers ![]()

I would try Dermmatch as I think it will work well on you. Fibres would work well also but cost wise will work out more expensive than Dermmatch.

I also use Dax wave and groom (red tin). The wax is not as hard as it was but if you put the wax in the freezer before styling your hair it works great in getting the hair to stay upwards at the front. As BM says concealors would work well for you. Might b worth looking at hair thickening sprays like Mane.

I'm also interested in this topic. I have very bad receeding in the temples, but I'm able to keep the hair in the middle of my head quite long (between 2 to 3 inches) which covers it quite well. But, I need it held in that position, otherwise it flaps around in the wind and looks ridiculous. I'm concerned about using gel or wax as it will make the hair look thinner and the receeding nature more obvious. I find Tesco Maximum Hold Hairspray gives excellent hold, better than more expensive hairspray, but I'm worried about the damage I'm doing to my hair. Any thoughts on an alternative? Thanks

I have found the dax wave and groom does not make the hair look thinner on myself. I use it in conjunction with Sainsbury max hold hairspray. I did use Tesck max hold for years but they have recently changed the ingredients and it does not give such a good hold. You can get the dax wax from Boots about 4pounds a tin. But I do stress but it in the freezer for 15mins before usage to firm it up and it shouldnt make your hair look thinner.

Thanks Coop, agree on the Tesco max hold - a real shame when they changed it! Will give Sainsbury's a go and the dax wave and groom.

Butchered The Sainsbury one is completely the same as the old tesco one. It is also non perfumed and in a blue tin.

Thanks guys. My local Sainsbury only had the form hold - I've been using it for a couple of weeks and it's really good - had one day where it was weird and didn't seem to have much hold but apart from that all good. Not been windy lately though... Still concerned with the damage I'm doing with the hair spray but needs must!

Hi, I've been fighting my hair loss for quite a few years. I have a high profile job and my hair is very important to me and I can't get a transplant for medical reasons. As to hair thickeners I used Toppik and Dermmatch but I was never happy putting powder on my freshly washed hair. Then I would run in all sort of troubles when I wanted to do some styling touch-ups. I was quite successful with Mane though as I prefer the form of a hair spray. An established hair dresser in London applied Volume Hair Plus to boost my hair volume and then used Naturtint Styling Mousse for very smooth hold and I've been using this combination ever since. Another good product for styling I could recommend is Andalou. Katie
