Too young to be bald

I`m 19, my hairline is receding and the rest of my hair is noticeably thinner. I can see my scalp easily, even with dry hair. People have begun to comment on my hair, saying it`s looking thin and a few who think it`s acceptable to use derogatory names. This whole issue of losing my hair is seriously depressing me.
What are my best options to do something about this? I haven`t got the funds needed for a hair transplant.
Please help?

Rogaine Foam. You rub it on your head x2 a day, dries in 10mins. If it works for you then you should notice results after 3months.
Cost in uk prices approx £40 for 3month supply.

Also start researching Finasteride as this can prevent further loss. It can cause side effects so be warned. I started using it around15/16 years ago and I have not lost much ground.

Thanks Coopman. Do you use Rogaine foam?
I'll look into Finasteride, if it can stop me from losing more hair, it's got to be good. Do you recommend any of the natural products that say they regrow hair?

I don't use Rogaine anymore although it worked for me I just got content with my hair without it. If I was 10yrs younger I would still be using it.

Steer away from natural products, they don't work and will only empty your wallet.

The only proven treatments that are effective are Rogaine (also called minoxidil) and Finasteride (also called propecia). If you do start treatment take photos once a month to monitor progress.

You will find plenty of info on this site but stay clear of transplants u r way to young.

If I were you have a look on a website called hairlosstalk forum there r plenty of young guys on there under 30 sharing their treatment stories with photos showing their progress. Have a look you will learn lots.

I took a look on there, it has lots of conflicting info and derogatory comments. I get enough of that already.
I`m looking through the various posts on here. There is a member SL who quotes Saw Palmetto working for him. Is there a chance natural products do work for a small percentage of people? I`d prefer to explore these avenues first, before committing to Finasteride which has some serious problems if you`re unlucky enough to suffer them.
All the information is mind boggling, which way to go, what to take, will it work, how much does it cost, where to purchase it from, is it legitimate.
I`ve got a lot more reading to do.

The shop on here is legit.

Again from my 20 years of hair loss knowledge, I am unaware of anyone maintaining or regrowing their hair by using natural products. Unfortunately it is Rogaine foam or/and Finasteride. Nizoral Shampoo may make your hair thicker.

There are plenty of adverts out there trying to sell u natural products. They don't work and they will only empty your wallet.

Saw Palmetto is rumoured to be mildly effective for a few, but not as a standalone treatment.

I suppose I have to weight up the benefits against the possible adverse effects.

Hi Kristian, welcome to the forum.
I'm pleased you found the site before making any decisions on what to do.
Coopman has gave you good advice. The only clinically proven methods to help prevent hair loss and maybe regrow hair are Finasteride and Minoxidil. They both can cause side effects, some quite serious, so you should research thoroughly before deciding if it's something you want to try.
I personally tried many natural remedies when I was younger, none of them worked for me. You mention Saw Palmetto, it's not clinically proven but it may work for you. Again some say it causes sides also.
Have you tried shaving or buzzing your hair really short to see if it suits you?
Regards Bm.

So many factors lead to hairline receding like hormonal changes or improper diet may result to it. Start taking care of your immunity levels. Eat balanced healthy diet or you can include fish curry into your meal. Hair transplant gives best results but takes 6 months after that the regrow hair remains permanent.
