Your hair is made up of protein, therefore it is important to ensure that you have enough protein in your diet. Protein is the building block of hair and eggs are one of the richest natural sources of protein. However, eating too many eggs can increase your cholesterol levels. Hence if you aim to eat a number of eggs then eat only the egg whites which are the main source of protein an avoid the yolk. Iron is another essential mineral which our hair cells require. In fact, a deficiency in iron in our body can cause hair loss. When your body is running low on iron, oxygen, and nutrients are not getting transported to the hair roots and follicles adequately which can inhibit growth and make your strands weak. So, you need to include food in your diet which is rich in iron. Our body also requires Vitamin C for iron absorption, therefore; you need to add citrus fruits to your diet. Nutritionists recommend that one lime per day is enough to get your daily dose of Vitamin C. Just make yourself a chilled glass of Lemon water (with honey or a healthy alternative to refined sugar) and you €™re sorted. You could also opt for oranges. Vitamin C is also required for the production of collagen that makes capillaries that connect to the hair shafts strong thus, ensuring regular supply of nutrients and quick hair growth. Apart from Vitamin C you also need have a balance of other times of vitamins too. In this day and age, we are all too busy to include all the different types of vitamins in our daily diet. Under such circumstances, it is not a bad idea to include some multivitamins in our diets. However, on should only add them to the diet after consulting the doctor. The other things which we all should make an effort to include in our diets for healthy and strong hair are nuts and seeds as they are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids.
Omega-3 fatty acids nourish the hair and support thickening. Since your body cannot produce these healthy fats, you need to derive them from your diet. Almonds and walnuts are really high in Omega-3 fatty acids. Similarly, flaxseeds can serve as mid-meal healthy snack while also supplying the essential fats to your hair.

Collagen powder/supplements, bone broth, gelatin. I also do a weekly hair mask with coconut oil. I will try to leave it overnight or for a few hours and then once I wash it out in the shower, my hair gets so soft! I've noticed it's also helped it grow.

Frankly, if you go down the road of changing up your diet purely with the focus of how it effects your hair, this is almost certainly a recipe for ill mental health, no pun intended. Hair is made of Keratin which is basically protein and B vitamins but don't think by overdosig on these it will bring back luscious locks.

Far healthier to have a healthy overall diet which will give you any of the benefits your hair will get from your diet and enjoy more mental health at the same time.

Here are a few good and bad food options. But, as it has been said, a balanced nutritional diet is important. Especially if you have a medical condition. You should consider seeking professional advice before making extensive changes to your diet.

Bad hair foods include -

Sugar - Protein is important for your hair. Sugar hinders the absorption of protein. Added sugar is one to keep away from as much as possible.

Starchy white foods - High-glycaemic foods include starchy white bread and pasta. Research shows that a high-glycaemic diet can increase androgen hormone levels. Over-processed starches are converted into sugar.

High mercury content fish - Some types of fish naturally contain high levels of mercury. It is a matter of everything in moderation. It's not necessary to remove these types of fish from your diet altogether. Rather control the amount that is consumed per week.

Good hair foods include -

Blueberries - Blueberries are full of goodness containing vitamins A, C, and E.

Salmon - Salmon is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids, which have several health benefits. Wild salmon is preferable to farm-raised. The fish also has a high selenium content, a mineral that protects from sun exposure. Salmon and other oily fish are rich in vitamin D.

Red bell peppers - belong to the capsicum family of mild peppers with a slightly sweet taste. Peppers are good to add to your daily diet as they contain phytonutrients that have powerful antioxidants. They are also a good source of nutrients such as vitamins C, A, and B6 as well as vitamin E, vitamin K, folate, and potassium. Red bell peppers provide 300 percent of daily vitamin C intake. If there is an iron deficiency eating red bell peppers will help to increase maximum absorption.

Maintaining a healthy, balanced diet can keep your hair in the best possible condition. Vitamin D, zinc, and iron all help to keep your hair looking and growing well. Always in line with your overall general health and diet.

While these recommendations can be beneficial for maintaining healthy hair, it's important to note that individual results may vary. If you have specific concerns about your hair or any underlying conditions, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or a dermatologist for personalized advice and guidance.

Magnesium is really good for hair. It is essential to maintain proper magnesium levels in order to promote healthy hair development. This crucial mineral regulates the creation of hair follicles as well as the entire hair growth cycle. Inadequate magnesium levels can interfere with the natural hair development process, leading follicles to enter a resting phase and preventing the formation of new hair strands.
