Hello everyone,
I would like to know how many graft do you think I need for a HT, also as I usually have short hair, do you recommend me Fue over Fut because of the scar?
thanks

Hi and welcome.
I take it you are wanting the crown area transplanted. It`s quite a large area and I'd estimate 15-2000 grafts but you`re better off getting more accurate numbers from clinics via a consultation.
To keep your hair that short, Fue would be my choice.
Are you using any meds to prevent further loss?
Do you suit your hair buzzed, that may be an option rather than surgery.

Hello,

yes I would start from the crown area.

do the medication help regrowth or it just stops further loss?

thanks

Looking at your pics again, maybe 1000 is a more realistic opinion for the crown area. The meds can regrow hair and prevent further loss.
If you dint know much about them, you need to do some research on them. Finasteride, also known as Propecia or Proscar works well in the crown area. Minoxidil or Rogaine glam can help too.
Both have the possibility to cause side effects, like most medications do.
It's best to consult with a doctor if you can. Maybe ask your family doctor about it.

Hi Whippino,
There are number of questions that need answering in order to give you graft estimation. How old are you? When did you start losing your hair? Your hair loss has stabilised? Can you be more specific in how long it's been stable?

Hello Janna,
I am 38 yo, I have to say my hairline is been like that for more than 10 years, this new photo is from 2003!
the crown got worse in the past 5 years I think because of stress, had it a bit before but I could had longer hair without noticing, while now I need to shave asap.

Hi whippino,

You've still got a good amount of hair, but what concerns me is that your crown loss looks to be potentially quite extensive. If it progresses to thin down the sides and back then planning an ht can be a complicated process. Finasteride could help to prevent this or at least delay it significantly, so it's certainly worth considering, though as Bigmac says, there can occasionally be side effects.

I'd definitely recommend you arrange a consult with a reputable clinic to discuss things and formulate a 'plan of attack'

Does Finasteride just delay baldness or can also regrowth the missing ones already? I just don't want to take finasteride forever just to hold something that eventually happens anyway
thanks

There have been some real success stories with finasteride no doubt. Some people report no further loss over many years and some have noticeable growth. There are no guarantees though and 'your mileage may vary'. It's a long term commitment though as it only works for as long as you are taking it.
