I flew from Newcastle to Amsterdam with KLM and then a direct flight to MSP airport from Amsterdam with Northwest Airlines.

From Newcastle the flight was 55 minutes and from Amsterdam to MSP it was 8 hours and 20 minutes.

The flights range from about £350 upwards depending when you book them.

I know there are direct flights from London Heathrow with Northwest airlines and direct flights from Dublin. All US cities will fly there i think. Not sure about the rest of the world.

I usually book through Expedia who i find are the cheapest.

Some hotels close to Shapiro Medical Group

Country Inn & Suites
Hilton Gardens
Staybridge hotel
la quinta hotel
Sofitel hotel
Hampton Inn Hotel
Hope this helps anyone looking into travel arrangements.

I'm flying direct from London Heathrow to MSP airport with Northwest Airlines. I'm sure I could have got a better deal had I changed planes en route (I've paid £601) but I just want to get to Bloomington in as straightforward a way as possible and with minimal stress. My hair transplant procedure with Dr Ron at SMG is on the 14th July and I'm flying out on the 12th. I'm staying at the Country Inn and Suites, Bloomington West for 8 days; departing for London on the 2oth July. I hope by then the transplanted grafts will be pretty secure in my head!

Thanks bullitnut. When I've had my previous hair transplants I've stayed indoors for two weeks, hardly venturing out (very cautious). I'll probably stay in my hotel room for the 8 days (apart from visiting SMG for morning hair washes if they are ok with that) - it'll be a shame not to get out and about in Bloomington but maybe I can return in a year or so, hopefully with a good result for SMG's photo gallery, though I'm trying to be realistic about any change in my appearance as it's probably going to be subtle rather than dramatic.

I love your website. People like you will help prevent future hair transplant candidates make informed choices based on reliable sources of information and personal experiences.

Hope your hair transplant is coming on wellZ:B

Hi Hairforever,

You might be pleasantly surprised at just how much you'll be able to do just a day or two after your procedure. Of course you are welcome to come into the clinic each surgery day to get your hair washed. I hope you won't hide out the whole 8 days. There are some nice shopping malls, museums, and parks to visit. Hopefully the weather will be nice and not too hot or stormy.

Hi Janna

Maybe I'll get restless after a few days holed up in the hotel (just worried about bumping my head etc).

Counting down the weeks and days now :)

Yup, your day will be here before you know it.

I wouldn't be too worried about bumping your head. You do need to be mindful getting in and out of vehicles first 3-4 days, otherwise, its rare bumping your head. But you know yourself best. If you routinely bump your head in normal settings, it might make sense to hole yourself up for 4-5 day to be on safe side.

Only after he has had a few Z:B

You`ll be fine and will want to get out and about after your HT.

I look forward to having a few drinks Bigmac. It will be hard to give up drinking for a week before and a week after my ht but if that's what's needed then so be it.

You're right Janna, getting in and out of cars can be a problem with an ht. I bashed the top of my head quite badly last year going through a small 'Alice in Wonderland' doorway where I work... blood etc. I'm glad I hadn't recently had an ht. Being just over 5'7'' doorways and ceilings don't normally present a danger to my head'''h;h;;h
