Dr Rahal 2800 FUT

Gone for my second hair transplant in the front after the first with another surgeon, left undesirable results.
Objectives- fortify front of the hairline and behind as the estimated existing density was only 25 grafts/cm2- create new temple points to frame the face

Numbers:Single hairs = 277Double hairs = 1806Triple hairs = 611Quadruple hairs = 109
Total grafts = 2803Total hairs = 6158Recipient area = 60cm2 Recipient graft density approx 46/cm2 on top of existing (hopefully 70 plus when it grows in)

After consultation, we were shooting for 2200 grafts but it turned out my donor was stronger than expected (2.1 hairs per graft), so ended up at 2800.I've still got grafts in the bank for FUT and FUE if needed down the line but I'm hoping to maintain what I have with finasteride and PRP. Been stable on fin for 10 years now.

Whole process has been world's apart from the last - from communication, the staff, the process, and after care, I've felt at ease the entire way. I stayed at the Rahal guest house which is situated next door to the clinic and I can't reiterate how convenient this is for ducking and diving in and out of surgery, for follow up appointments to check your progress, and for having the head washed. I've also met a bunch of guys from different parts of the world that I've stayed in touch with, and it was surprisingly liberating and funny to talk hair loss stories sitting down post-op without caring lol.

Overall I've been very impressed and now waiting for the big finale in a few months time. Uploading my pics so far and will be updating at 3, 6 month etc, please feel free to comment. I'm interested to hear other people's questions or feedback. Cheers!!

Hi Pablo.
Welcome to the forum. The work looks very good as usual from Rahal, the graft numbers will give you good density and create that all important new hairline. It`s nice to hear how convenient it was staying next door and meeting other patients.
Your healing timeline looks right on track, a few more months and the growing shall begin. Then you can put your first surgery behind you and move forward more positively.
With you being on Finasteride for 10 years, have you suffered any sides?
All the best.
Bm.

Hi BM,
Thanks for the kind words. I noticed about a week in to beginning finasteride that my libido had reduced somewhat, and my semen was watery. I rode it out as at that point I was so desperate to keep my hair. After around three weeks of this, everything balanced out and I €™ve been normal ever since.

Hi Daz
Thanks for the comment - Just read through your last surgery, looks awesome! Do you know how many grafts you had specifically in the temple points?

Not really seeing any sign of growth yet - need to get a cut.
Pics not great but included a darker picture where it looks like the outline of the temple is coming in :::C

It seems only a small percentage of patients see noticeable growth at 3 months. Can you feel any prckly hair shafts coming through?

It looks as though everything is back to your pre op stage with your thin native hairline. 3 months is early, some see good growth by then, but usually, it's the time when the first signs of growth begin which may be happening with you saying it looks like the temple outline is appearing
Waiting for the growth is a tough time, be patient, it will happen.
All the best.
BM.

Very early days dude, as bm says it's the time that most just start to see some growth. It will all come together very soon dude and the emotional rollercoaster will be over. Hang in there the coming months are going to be exciting for you.
