So many dodgy clinics out there!!

Due to the lockdown here again in the UK. I’ve been doing loads more researching and reading of peoples hair transplants and I am really astounded to see how many dodgy clinics there are out there and the amount of patients who have paid thousands and come away looking worse than before the had a HT. I feel sorry for these patients and also people who don’t research and get caught up in the talk by these clinics and end up booking a procedure. It’s made me realise how glad I am that I took the time (7 years) of research before committing to a HT and found an ethical and trustworthy clinic to do mine. It’s a mine field out there if not and can be a lottery when coming to your final result

You are correct. A lot of these clinics believe they are doing decent work even when they're not. Some know they aren't decent but just carry on regardless. I've documented many examples on this forum of clinics who steal other clinics images, downright lie on their websites pump out rubbish on paid ads.
A lot of patients do end up worse off, some with a hideous look that is extremely hard to repair. Some unfortunate people are left beyond repair, disfigured so much they lock themselves away in their own homes or won't leave the house without a hat on. This has been happening for a long time. However, it seems to be on the increase now with new untrained or unlicensed clinics offering FUE.
I've seen a multitude of bad strip scars over the years, even had a few of my own but what is happening now with FUE is donor areas are being completely wiped out, leaving little to no option for repair with scalp grafts. People have to look at body hair or SMP which may be an option for them.
Many just suffer in silence.
The Internet is a double edged sword. There is plenty of good helpful information out there but just as much bullshit.

Dr Arvinds recent post shows some examples of bad work. Bad hair transplant work

When do you know if a clinic is bad for you?
You can do research for months (like i do) but dont know yet what is true or false.

Its very hard to find the right clinic, because it's hard to verify .

Some telltale signs are they use other clinics' results on their website, they have a lot of bad results posted by patients on forums. This post by Dr Arvind is worth a read.

Only last week I received some communication from a patient who told me he had a hair transplant without ever seeing or meeting a doctor. Two technicians did the whole FUE procedure. He booked it all online, turned up and away they went.

Here’s a true story.
A broker who booked patients because they offered cheap surgery.
They would hire a doctor in, sometimes from another country. Then they’d hire a room, sometimes from a dentist or similar.
One patient booked up this way. At 3pm the doctor left to catch a flight back home leaving the techs to finish the surgery by themselves. This took another 4 hours.
What happened next you couldn’t make up.
They were on the 1st floor. The caretaker or whoever had locked the building up at 6pm not realising they were in there doing surgery.
The techs and the patient had to climb out the window onto a bay window, then lower themselves onto the bin to escape.
The stuff that goes on is unreal.

I would be going crazy if that had happened to me after spending all that money

Agreed, very irresponsible of the doctor and probably broke every rule in the book but they get away with it.

Shocking. But here's an even bigger problem......a new patient will not know if they are heading off to this very 'clinic', so the culprits can carry on doing it again and again to new patients. As the above is a true story, is there is any reason why the clinic cannot be named?

One of the concerns I have had is the severe shortage of negative reviews. The abundance of positive, life-changing review and videos gives potential candidates the false sense of belief that hair transplants are largely successful and they too can have a full head of hair.
This is far from the truth. There are lots of un-successful transplants, but patients only discover this once they've been on the wrong side of the result. And the silence from failed transplant patients (for whatever reason) only enables the deception.

Whinge over!

Ya'll will love this.

You can buy FUE extractor punches on ebay for less than twenty quid.

I can't post links but just search for "fue punch" on ebay.

If the people involved wish to post about it then that`s ok but for me to mention the name would be hearsay.

Should i be worried if a company makes me sign a NDA before the procedure ?

No one yet, was just wondering if all these clinics make people sign NDA's before procedures which would prevent people exposing some of these dodgy clincs.

Yes I am totally agree with you that there so many dodgy clinics out in the market but you need to have an RND and research before going to any hair transplant clinic ...

4 awesome repairs with SMG
You would be surprised at just how many clinics don't actually use real doctors too, not mentioning any names but I've even heard of janitors doing surgeries in the past...be careful guys
