Dear HLE members,

We're pleased to present this FUT & FUE combo case. Julien came to the clinic to restore his hairline, temple points, midscalp and crown just under 9 months ago. Over the course of two days we transplanted a total of 6,120 grafts. On day one of surgery, we took a strip that yielded 3,340 grafts. On day two, a further 2,780 grafts were extracted via FUE. At just under 9 months, Julien is delighted with his results so far. We expect some further thickening over the coming months, particularly in the crown area. In particular we're extremely happy with his FUT scar, which is very difficult to find even at shorter hair lengths.

3s - 647

FUE graft break down:

1s - 450

2s - 1018

3s - 1137

4s - 175

Total hairs: 13,218 | HPG ratio: 2.16

Awesome result!

He is looking very good for 9 months. The donor looks untouched. Do you have a pre-op picture showing his donor for comparison?
Also, is he on any hair loss meds?

Yes he's currently taking 0.5mg dutasteride & 2.5mg oral minoxidil. I've included a photo of his donor area pre-op, and also a link to a comb-through which includes his donor below:

It most likely would, but with a few caveats. Dr Ted almost certainly wouldn't have done in excess of 6,000 grafts via FUE in a single session. We have cases not a million miles from those numbers via FUE along (around 5-5500 grafts), but these are very arduous sessions for all involved (not least the patient!), and the option to utilise FUT enables some donor area safeguarding.

It's impossible to take such big numbers via FUE without thinning the donor area, and there's a cut off point to how far that can be pushed which will vary from patient to patient.

So, it's perfectly possible to achieve these numbers but more than likely over two sessions rather than one using FUE only.

Yes he definitely has the potential for more extractions in the future if needed (or if the hair greed kicks in!).

He may very well succumb to hair greed.
