This is a patient who came to us at age 41 with extensive loss and was using Finasteride and Minoxidil. He had good donor hair density (90 F.U cm2)but the area was short. We initially planned to do 8,000 FUE in two sessions but he had excellent recovery in his donor hair.Between 2008 and 2013 we were able to undertake 5 procedures in total.

1stHT: 4044 FU €™s (0.75 mm punch, 45 microns of hair)
2ndHT: 3777 FU €™s (0.75 mm punch)
3rdHT: 2234 FU €™s (0.75 mm punch, 4400 hairs; 1.96 hair/graft; 647FU1/1076FU2/443FU3/86FU4)

4thHT: 1715 FU €™s (0.75 mm punch; 3854 hairs; 2.24 hair/graft; 299FU1/796FU2/521FU3/95FU4/4FU5)

5thHT: 1601 FU €™s (0.8 mm punch; 3601 hairs; 2.24 hair/graft; 227FU1/846FU2/438FU3/87FU4/5FU5)

Incredible what a small manual hand punch can do when in a hand that knows what to do with it. I'm sure it is incredibly long, tedious and difficult work but if it was easy everyone would be doing it.

That is a huge number of extractions covering a very large area. Can you please post some pictures of the donor region..............thank you.

Mind blowing.

Please share some pictures of the donor area.

I've been researching Fue, this patient is the biggest session I've ever seen. To be honest I'm confused as to where all the donor grafts came from as the patient was a Norwood 6, it seems impossible to have that amount of donor in the safe zone.
The first two surgeries were nearly 8000 grafts, surely these would have produced the coverage/density that appears to have been achieved after 4 surgeries.
His hair appears thin for this amount of grafts, I have seen better results from 6-7000 FUT cases. I don't understand why the forum members feel this is a good result... I don't !!
Would it be possible to post pictures from his individual surgeries? especially his donor zone. I welcome the thoughts from doctors or their representatives on this forum.

Personally I didn €™t comment on the result here because to be honest sometimes it just doesn €™t seem appropriate. Yet I have had some posters on some forums tell me about putting pubic hair on my head and a lot of other crap insulting comments usually posters who seem to be working for clinics. Doesn €™t €™ bother me in fact I have laughed at those comments €¦ €¦ €¦ €¦.I could really give a rat €™s ass about what someone else has to say and no I have not had pubic hair transplanted. But maybe other patients take things more to heart so of course we don €™t want to intentionally hurt someone.

I might have done something a little different here like maybe leave the crown much thinner with more hair in the forelock. I also would have suggested to the patient to part the hair higher up on the lateral hump area as a part too far down makes it look too much like a combover. You can also see the thinness in that same lateral hump area when the hair is misdirected forward as opposed to down towards the ear.

Anyway just constructive criticism on my part with no ill intention. As long as the patient is happy that is all that really matter.

This is a NW VII, 330 cm2 to cover = 40 grafts/cm2 of thin hair.In this videos you can see his previous procedures:

Good to hear..............I would definitely add some density to the top of that lateral hump area...............but that's my opinion and what I would do.............some might choose to do something different and as long as it makes them happy that is what counts.

Sometimes it is important to makes points others reading the forums may not see. Gives them something to consider when planning for themselves. All part of the learning process, sharing what we know and also learning from others.
