Major Repair after previous unsuccessful procedures.

1421 FUT 0-12 Months Result

Our Patient was 46 years with an open donor from 2 punch graft 4mm ops, 3 poor Strips and 1 scalp reduction leaving him with no results and an open donor.

His scalp donor was very tight due to all the previous work leaving the donor hard to harvest from and in the recipient he has ridging and pitting. It was decided not to use FUE because of his enormous existing scarring. His open donor made FUE very difficult and he did not want to shave because it would have been impossible to go anywhere in public for months with the amount of scarring, there was no way to harvest without total shaving because the scarring was so extensive.

With FUT/Strip we used 1421 FU to improve the frontal area that was his first priority. Dr. B also removed via FUE 35 Plugs that were replaced back in different areas. This is a good case of less is more and the patient understanding what can be done.

Nice improvement! Where was the strip taken from and would it have been possible to utilize grafts from the sides as they still look in good shape? Were you able to hide the scalp reduction scars satisfactorily?

This is a nice change. Great work. He will be looking much improved also in my opinion if he shortens the sides if possible and maybe tames the hair with some light product. Very nice work though.

Hi all, Thanks for the comments, with a limited donor it is so important to plan well to get max cosmetic effect from minimum grafts. Repair guys will tell you they cannot always have what they would like, it's more of working within the limits and designing accordingly. Hi JJ09, the strip was taken slightly to the side, he could probably get another strip and FUE, infact he was initially recommended a combo to harvest the max we could but he really did not want to shave and go through the next months hiding away, understandable with all the scarring in his donor being visible if we shaved.
