Hey everyone, I’m new to this forum. Posting here because Spammer’s clinic asked me to do a review after my transplant and I told them I would eventually. I was referred here as I’m ready for my full review, over 2 years after the surgery! First, I’ll cut to the chase, I’m happy with my results. I know they are not perfect. I never expected perfection. I was happy with the results I could find and I was drawn to the value in going over seas as opposed to staying in the US and paying a lot more for fewer grafts, though possibly receiving more doctor attention.
Surgery was in April of 2021. FUE method with Dr Spammer performing the incisions.
I received 3,600 grafts. Mostly to my frontal third hairline and some to my crown. Didn’t get a specific number on the areas.
I was picked up and driven everywhere I needed to be by the staff. Everyone was kind or at the very least professional. I was in Spammer’s new building which I thought was very modern and clean. Zero complaints there.
I don’t want to go into too many details as nothing really sticks out. I paid, I got exactly what I expected. I’m happy.
The critique: I think nobody notices anything about my hair. I just blend in. Nobody has ever asked me if I got a transplant. My friends and family have said it looks good and they were skeptical beforehand but not anymore.
I study my hair every single day so I can say a few things. I am happy with where my hairline sits, but I noticed immediately there were lots of doubles and triples in the hairline. Working over to my right side, the hairline is almost entirely doubles etc. I always combed my hair over that side anyway, so it’s not that big of a deal. But when I pull my hair back, it’s not a soft or natural looking hairline. Again, it’s kind of what I expected as I studied many other examples from the clinic.
The good: having a solid hairline and mostly full coverage on my head has changed the way I feel in public. Sure, it’s just hair and nobody cares but I feel like I am treated a little differently with hair as opposed to not. I buzzed my hair to zero for about five years before the transplant and I tried to ignore it, but no hair was not me and not how I wanted to be or to be seen. I feel 100x more confident and comfortable now. So, thanks to Spammer clinic for that.
I know I’ll always be battling hair loss, but it’s worth it for me to get a surgery. I imagine I’ll get another in 5-10 years. Will I return to Spammer? Maybe, I’m not decided. There are a lot of factors involved in that, but I’m glad I went when I did.
My details: currently 35 years old.
Using minoxidil topical since age 20 when I noticed more than normal hair fall.
My family has a history of nw5+ balding.
By age 26 I was nw3+ and buzzing my head.
I still shed about 50-100 hairs per day but I can’t say I have noticed my hair looking any thinner than it was a year ago, so I’m not too worried, time will tell. I’m considering oral minoxidil as I feel topical minoxidil has never really worked much and the chemicals often irritate my scalp and cause redness and dandruff and oily hair.
Age 30 began finasteride 1mg daily with noticeable but not amazing results by month 6. This is when I decided I could probably pursue a hair transplant.
After the transplant healed I occasionally derma roll with 1.5mm, but this gives me a lot of dandruff so maybe once per month. I also use the anti fungal nizoral shampoo about 3-4x per week.
I’ll try to upload as many pics as I can and I’ll answer as many questions as I can do feel free to ask.
