Hello everyone. I have been reading the forum for a long time and as a token of gratitude, I decided to share my experience of hair transplantation.
I am 34 years old. I lost most of my hair from front and crown parts when I was a student. I have tried several and different medication and methods but the hair did not grow back or I couldn’t provide my hairs from falling out. So I decided to do hair transplantation. I spent a lot of time choosing a doctor since it is a life-changing decision after all. I searched for information on different platforms and different forums and I chose doctor Koray Erdogan from Asmed Clinic in Istanbul. I will try to write in detail about my experience.
Consultation with a doctor Koray Erdogan at the clinic
On Monday, 10th May I came to the clinic for consultation and preparation for the operation. In front of the entrance to the clinic, there is an automatic disinfection air passway, then they gave me a new mask. At this time during a pandemic, precautions are very important for me. I did a PCR test and the necessary analysis of an ECG, at that moment I felt absolutely safe and concluded that I was in the right place. Then I met with my patient coordinator, her name is Alina. She informed me about the operation. My coordinator and I went up to another floor to take professional photographs of my hair. Then we went to the doctor's office for a consultation. Before coming to the clinic, based on photos I sent online, the doctor’s estimation was 5000 grafts, during the consultation the doctor analyzed my hair and he recommended I continue taking finasteride and changed the graft number to 4000 grafts (1 operation day). The doctor said that we will do a transplant to the temple part, to the front part and the vertex. This plan made me very happy, I felt very comfortable and completely trusted the doctor.
Then Alina and I went into the washing room, my hairs were shaved, the staff was very professional and very friendly. For the operation planning, I had computer and robot analysis, they do their job very professionally. I also met Dr Umut, he is an anesthesiologist. The doctor asked me questions about my health, told me about the process of operation, this meeting gave me the confidence that I was in the right hands.
Then Dr Koray and Mrs Dilek came. Dr Koray drew a front line including the temple part ( I will share photos ) I and all the personal around really liked the line from the temple part (Dr Koray is a master of the front line and I was convinced with this).
Then they took my photos with a special device (it turns out this device was created by Dr Koray), the device takes photographs from 6 different angles at one time. So the preparation for the operation came to an end.
Operation day
In the morning at 07:00, I was in the clinic. They prepared a cosy room for me and gave me special clothes for the operation. At 07:30 Alina came and we went to the washing room again, they shaved my hair again and we went to the operating room. The operating room is equipped with all technologies. In the operating room, they have different devices to measure blood pressure, measure pulse, saturation and also they opened an IV way. With the help of a small injector, they gave me local anaesthesia ( it didn’t hurt much). Then began the process of extraction grafts began. With the help of special technologies, I can keep track of the counted grafts. Dr Koray on the monitor showed how my grafts looked, talked about their quality. After the extraction, we moved on to the second part of the operation- incisions!!! I was again given local anaesthesia I laid there and felt absolutely fine. The doctor made incisions, it didn’t hurt at all.
Then we moved on to the last part of the operation- implantation. It took several hours so I slept. The operation ended when all my grafts were transplanted. I was placed in the room to get some rest. Dr Koray made the necessary control, made sure that everything went well. This was the end of my operating day.
Post operations
The first night after the operation went well I felt just a little discomfort due to the positional restrictions but this is not a huge deal.
During the first washing in the clinic, they washed my hair and gave me instructions about how to wash my hair by myself. They provided me with a medical bag with all the necessary products for washing and post-operational care. I didn't need to buy anything else I was very happy.
I want to say thanks to Dr Koray and all ASMED personal for professionalism, I felt absolutely comfortable throughout the entire operating process.
I will share information about my result. Thank you for your attention ( it turned out to be a very long text, but I really want to share all the details of my experience ).
