5050 grafts (FUT 4503 + FUE 547) at Hattingen Hair

7 weeks ago I did a hair transplant performed by Hattingen Hair in Switzerland. I'll try to update with images periodically.

Method: FUT + FUE

Grafts: 4503 FUT + 547 FUE = 5050 grafts in total

Why did I choose Hattingen Hair and what was the experience like?

After looking around on the Internet's various forums and on various Youtube channels, I finally choosed Hattingen Hair in Switzerland. I, who am over 50 years old and just wanted to do one operation, FUT seemed to be the best method for me. I don't usually cut myself short so the scar of a FUT can be hidden and not be a problem for me.

I flew into Switzerland via Zurich airport. From there it was quite easy to get to Schaffhausen where I lived during my surgery. Hattingen Hair is located near Schaffhausen in Stetten. I used taxi or the local bus to get there. Which went smoothly.

At the clinic, I felt well taken care of. The atmosphere was both professional and familiar. Dr. Sever and Dr. Laura along with their assistants I found very knowledgeable, reliable and honest. It was important to me who hasn't done anything like this before!

The operation was distributed over two days. Everything went smoothly and efficiently. On the night between the days of surgery, I didn't sleep well, but the very day after the last day of surgery, I was on my feet and was able to easily get around on a journey of discovery in adorable Schaffhausen and also visit the beautiful Reinfall waterfall on the outskirts of the city.

I had booked a few extra days in Switzerland, partly because I was unsure of how I would feel, and partly to make some excursions if I could cope with this. It turned out to be no problem and I was able to use these days for some vacation. Dr. Sever and Dr. Laura received me every day for care with daily hair washing and supervision. They also helped me remove some scabs before I went home.

What I experienced as difficult in the days after the operation was above all difficulty sleeping well. I was a little sore on and around the scar and that it itched on the scalp. Dr. Sever explained that this is normal in the first week and that I didn't have to worry. Already a few weeks after the operation, most things have returned to normal. Honestly, I thought FUT would be worse than this. Every week, the redness in the recipient area decreases and the sensation on the scalp begins to reappear.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

Welcome to the forum Scalpion. It all sounds like you had a very good experience with Hattingen Hair. They’re an excellent choice with co results for larger surgeries.
The work looks nice and refined. Those 5050 grafts should produce a very nice transformation for you. Were the FUE grafts that were taken used specifically for the hairline?
Sleeping can be slightly uncomfortable but manageable. I found my FUT recovery pretty easy.
I`ll look forward to your next update and thanks for sharing your story.
All the best.

Hi

I'm not entirely sure, but as I understood it from Dr. Laura that they wanted to place it mainly on the crown where I have a strong whorl of hair to soften it and make the hairstyle more manageable. Best regards

Whatever the strategy behind their placing I’m sure it will look great once grown out.
Are you on any hair loss regimen?

Look forward to seeing your final result @Scalpion, Dr. Sever and Dr. Laura produce very natural results from what I've seen.

No, I don't. Just some supplements, like Resveratrol and Saw Palmetto

These are my 2.5 month photos. Everything according to plan. Scar was well hidden already a few weeks ago and I am fine having the length of the hair in the donor area as you can see in my photos.
I am getting a few pimples but nothing alarming. Still some redness but it is fading.

Hi Scalpion, looks like things are going well for 2.5 months, and like me the front third seems to be growing quicker than the crown area, but I'm told thats natural and the crown takes longer to grow. Your hair loss seems not dissimilar to mine and I chose Hattingen for the same reasons as you as we're similar ages and I only wanted the one procedure, but I only had the FUT which is working out well for me so far (I'm about 6 months now). I therefore didn't have as many grafts as you, and the 5050 grafts should give you a really great and full finish.

I believe you've made the right choice in Hattingen, as I was also impressed by their integrity which I found lacking in a lot of other establishments - and like you trust is a most important criteria for me as you have to be able to trust the people that are performing this most important procedure; as after all your head is the only and most prominent part of you on display at all times (besides your hands!).

Hope things continue to go well for you and do please keep us all posted.

This is looking very good for 2.5 months. Nice early growth you’re having. No sign of your donor scar with your hair at that length. The pimples will probably be hairs getting ready to punch through. If they’re sore, a warm damp compress applied a few times a day helps them clear up.
Thanks for the update.

Yes, agree with Norwood - you're getting good strong growth for only 4.5 months. Mine did similar, and I had my transplant done with Hattingen too - I'm not sure if this is 'rapid regrowth' is therefore a thing with their transplants, however I'm up to 8 months now and I'm not sure I'm seeing any further growth from about month 5 on. I posted last at 7 months but that was without having my haircut since the 5.5 months photos, and so I will post again when I next have a haircut to see if there is any increase in density. What is your scar looking like?

Hattingen do great scars don't they - you wouldn't know that it was there would you. Good luck with the continued growth - I'm about 3.5 months ahead of you so will be most interested to see how you get on.........
