Hello all,

8 weeks ago I had my hair transplant in Medical Cure Clinic in Istanbul and in the first days I was satisfied.
The shock loss phase started and I started to have doubts. The hair started to fall out and this is of course normal. But in some areas where I have lost hair, I get short hair again after a few days and some areas are still empty even after 2 or 3 weeks. Is this normal? There is no sign of hair coming back when I touch my skin.
The second problem with me is that when the hair falls out with small white body attached to the hair, which is rigid like stones. I hope they are not the follicles. Is this also normal?

Hello, you stated - "The shock loss phase started", as if this is a normal occurrence of undergoing a hair transplant, it´s not. Many/majority of clinics go months, years even without a patient having even minor shock loss.

The recipient area transplanted hair units often shed around the one month post surgery mark, as they enter into a dormant cycle. A lucky few keep the majority of the transplanted hair, although it´s more common to shed. Either way it´s not a reference to how the hair will grow over the coming year or so. Around three months post surgery the transplanted hair starts to come out of the dormant stage and the transplanted hair begins to grow. Initially a relatively small percentage and over the months more and more regrows.

Sure. The shock loss phase and regrowth from the 3rd month onwards are well known.
Again my questions were:
1. Is that normal that some zones get new hair again after few days after the loss and in some zone nothing happens after 2 and 3 weeks?
2. The white bodies in the picture IMG_1022 are the follicles? If so, does that mean that nothing will happen there and the follicles are lost forever?

You do not understand me. Shock loss is not normal and should not be considered as the norm when having a hair transplant. Shock loss occurs because something has not gone as planned, maybe meds used, aggressive attitude to the procedure, high graft numbers to name a few. Did your clinic suggest shock loss is a normal side effect when they perform a hair transplant? if so, that is scary.

I´m unsure what you are asking. But, basic hair transplant facts. A hair transplant is a surgical procedure. It moves hair from one area to another, commonly known as from the donor to the recipient. The donor should comprise only of genetically strong hair, traditionally around the back and sides of the head, but also, beard and body hair has also been used. When hair is removed from the donor it´s gone, leaving a scar in its place. The hair cannot regrow as the follicle organ is no longer there. FUE for example lowers the hair density in the area it´s removed from. Every procedure reduces the remining hair count and density, the hair cannot regrow.

The white bits that are on the hairs just looks like a bit of skin.

When you say hair that falls out grows back after a few days? That shouldn’t happen even in native hair.

If you are only 8 weeks you are middle of the ugly duckling phase and need to ride it out
