Just wondering if there are any real hair loss remedies that can stop hair loss and regrow hair. There are so many products out there, it €™s hard to know what €™s on the level. Any help would be appreciated.

Finasteride (propecia) and minoxidil are the only official treatments for hairloss, at least in the US. Dutasteride is going through the FDA right now I believe. Propecia is best used with a shampoo like T-Gel or Nizoral as that is how the studies were done.

There's also the FDA cleared Laser treatment devices...I think they start at like $200 and theres no real consensus on whether they work or not. Basically the FDA just said it wont kill you if you use it.

Neither will really regrow any hair in the front half of your scalp, but they may drastically reduce the rate of loss. At the midscalp and crown, they will not only halt loss in most men, but will regrow hair in some. Personally, I have not seen any loss in the back half of my scalp for nearly six years I've been on propecia, and that's noteworth cause mine was really aggressive (from N0 to N1-N2 in eighteen months). If you search my name on this forum you might find a thread I made with some pictures.

If you go to a lot of other forums, you'll find these dumbsh*t threads where some goober talks about his homemade finasteride hairgel and other stupid crap. I would advise you to stay clear. You may be able to find academic papers or scientific studies on both pharmaceutical and "natural" treatments on hairloss if you're that inclined.

Ziggs is correct dude, if your truly serious about trying meds and if i was personally in your shoes then i would start with Propecia(finasteride) and Rogaine foam (minoxidil)......you could throw in a supplement called MSM which seems to promote quick healthy growth but unfortunately doesn't give any regrowth.

Stay away from all the rest of the so called cures they are complete rubbish designed to tempt the desperate to part with their money.

Agree, I would start off with finasteride and/or minoxidil first as these are FDA approved for hair loss. The former requires a prescription and the latter does not. I found that popping a pill was much easier than applying minoxidil and I'm sure many would agree. However, be aware that finasteride seems to come with a higher risk of side effects.

This post got me thinking back to when i first started to loose my hair, i purchased a product called "Julien Jxx" it was a shampoo that stopped hairloss and promoted growth. It came in a green bottle and stung a little when used......i thought it was stimulating blood supply back then, but all it was doing was burning my head and causing an irritation. Be careful cures are everywhere and they don't work "period"

Dear priyanka07,

Minoxidil foam 5% and finasteride may slow down the progress of hairloss.
2 out of 3 of the men who took 1 mg of finasteride daily regrew some hair. The FDA-approved dose is 1 mg once a day. However you should definitely consult a dermatologist and have some exams before you use meds (especially if you going to try finasteride). Minoxidil can be used indefinitely for continued support of existing hair follicles and the maintenance of any experienced hair regrowth.

I just think that there is no "one size fits all" remedy, somethings works for some people and not for other.
