ASMED, Dr Koray Erdogan, 5007 grafts 15/16 Nov 2021

Hello everybody,

Today is day 4 since I did my hair transplant at the ASMED clinic (Dr Koray Erdogan). I want to share my journey here not only because I am interested in your honest feedback, but also because I hope this can help others to decide. I think it is also important to point out that the clinic has not asked me to share my experience, I am doing this because I want to.

So let's begin.

Age 38.
5007 grafts.
Donor area: 8000+ (can't remember the exact number, it is something I want to double check with the clinic).

The operation was done over 2 days. First day, front. Second day, mid and crown.
I chose the more expensive package the clinic offered as I wanted Dr Erdogan to be as much involved as possible, which means he did the incisions too (he did not do the extractions though, although he came in few times to oversee the process). The whole staff felt very friendly and professional. There are cheaper packages with less involvement and supervision from Dr Erdogan.

Included in the price was transportation and staying at the clinic for 3 nights. This included (nice) food and drinks. Staff was available 24/7 in case of need. Very spacious room, comfortable and clean with private shower, TV and hospital bed.

Yes indeed, and fingers crossed it will turn out well!! :) It's stressful not being able to know the results for months! For now, the tingly sensation on my scalp is driving me nuts!

Will post further updates down the line (y)

Apologies for missing this post.
The work looks very nice. These 5007 grafts should totally transform you once grown out. I like your philosophy of doing it as it’s what you wanted for yourself.
Your post op pictures showed you were healing as expected. How is it looking now?

Month 3 (around 15 Feb)
Not sure you can see much. I can see some grow coming in the frontal area. Not sure what is happening in the crown area though, seems to be lagging a bit behind... Fingers crossed!!

Month 2-3 look pretty similar but it does look as though the growth is beginning when compared to your pre-ops.
3 months is very early and just the beginning of growth for you.
Thanks for the update.

In all honesty, I was hoping to be "fuller" by now... I'm starting to worry a bit on the final result :)

Hi Rippone. Comparing the pictures to your pre-op there is definitely an improvement. Your hairline was non existent, now it’s there and beginning to fill in. Your crown looks to be filling in. Mid-section was hard to see in pre-ops because your hair was combed backwards.
It’s possible you suffered some shock loss too.
Are you on any hair loss prevention meds?
5 months is still early and well within timeframes of having 20-30% growth.
Try not to worry and compare to others.

Hi @Bigmac and thank you! I'll try not to worry and stay positive :) The good thing is that I've stopped checking every day but when I do so I can't see much evidence of new short hair pocking through so that's why I am starting to worry a bit! Hopefully I am just a slow grower.. Yes, I continue to take Finasteride as prescribed.

No problem. I have seen plenty of patients similar to your situation and they turned out just fine. Keep in touch with the clinic with updates. They may suggest a topical to see if that would speed up growth or simply say wait it out.

New update folks! Pictures taken on 24th May, so at about 6 months and 1 week post Op I think.

First bunch are with wet hair, second with dry hair. Lots of pictures as I was asked by the Doctor to send them to him for an evaluation.

Hi Rippone, that’s quite a bit of growth you’ve had since your last update. Your hair is looking good so far. Are you happy with the progress?

Hello Bigmac!

Overall I am happy! Much happier than I was a month ago! :)

I think the density is not exceptionally high as it can be seen when the hair are wet, and lacks a bit in the crown and right temple areas. But I still have few months of growth ahead, so I hope I will get a more even result by then. It probably won't be one of those amazing results we see on the internet (but it's also not going to be a negative one). Certainly my overall look has improved and I am finally confident to don't wear a hat :) So that's a good achievement!

And slightly curly hair help creating the illusion of density, so I am lucky with that too.

Yes, you have good hair characteristics that allows better coverage. You have a full hairline that looks good to me when wet. Wet hair will always make it appear thinner. Your crown didn’t have that many grafts placed there as density was concentrated on the frontal third and you still had quite a bit of native hair in the middle bridge.
It`s only the halfway stage for you so you should be seeing more growth and maturity.
I don’t think I’ve asked before but are you on any hair loss prevention regimen?
