I have the blackberry torch. It has a slide up feature that opens up a qwerty board. It's great for texting or writing an email. It also has the touch screen with apps similar to iphones. But I have to say that our IT guy at work was perplexed as to why I got a blackberry instead of the iphone. I got an ipad last year so I felt an iphone would just be a smaller version of it. I really like my blackberry but I must say the new generation iphones are tempting.

Thanks for your input Janna, did the IT guy say why the Iphone was the better choice.

Anyone else using either of these.

I have only used the older Iphones and older Blackberrys so i can't really pass judgement on the newer models, but from what i have used....personally i prefer the Blackberry......that being said my best friend loves his Iphone;;D

I like my nokia c3....cheap as chips, qwerty keyboard, and wifi enabled and all for £60

I downloaded opera mini browser for it and it does everything i need from a phone;) for a fraction of the price.....battery lifes superb too!!

I prefer Blackberry, seems to be used more industry standard in the business world, perhaps my perception.

The Blackberry has a good messenger service whereby you can contact other blackberry users/colleagues/friends worldwide etc to their pin number, works very well and is free to use for text, voice files etc.

I have not upgraded to Iphone 5 from a 4S phone. Don't think I need to yet. I'll wait until there's more of a significant change. Do you have an iphone now and looking to upgrade to 5 or switching altogether?

I switched from Blackberry to an iphone a yr ago and there are couple of great features on the iphone that I didn't on the blkberry - like free imessages to any iphone user no matter where you are or where they are. The facetime on iphone and ipads are great too.

Although, the blkberry also has a messenger feature that works with other blkberry users too but I found more ppl have iphones than blackberrys.

I have the Iphone too Janna and am very happy with it...so much so i sold my ipad as i didnt feel the need to have two items doing the same thing. I didnt know however that you can get free messages to other iphone users*nl....is this through the whatapp or viber application or is it a standard Iphone thing?

I have no plans to upgrade either but was curious as i have read some reviews of the 5 and don't know anyone who has one.

thanks Janna

Make sure you go to settings on your iphone and turn on IMessages. It's likely been on and probably have been using it without knowing. It's through Apple not Viper or other outside companies phone companies. I have unlimited text msgs with my service so it doesn't matter whether I used IMessages or texts within US but would incur international text charges for any texts to #'s outside US. The international rates are a killer!! With IMessages, there's no charge for texts to other Iphones and there's no limit. If you're in a wifi zone, Facetime calls do not eat up your minutes either. There are IMessage Apps on the Iphone, Ipad and Ipod touch. I still use my Ipad a lot. Mainly for watching videos and emailing. I no longer have a laptop. The IMessages work like regular texts but you'll know it's IMessages when it's sent in blue color instead of green. I hope you understand what I mean by green and blue texts.

I sent you a text, which will arrive in white color. If you reply, it will show blue if you turned your IMessages on before replying instead of green.
