Choosing a UK clinic… possibly Farjo

Hey everyone,

This question must of been asked 1000’s of times, but I need help picking a UK clinic.

I know there are many great clinics abroad, but are clinics such as Farjo really not as good? I thought Farjo was a well respected clinic with good results.

I see on the forums many people advising people to not have a procedure in the UK at all, other than with Dr Reddy.

I have had a consultation with Dr Farjo, and two other clinics, and personally liked him and what he had to say. His results seem good to me from what I’ve seen. I do see the odd thread or unhappy post mainly from people who haven’t had surgery with him, but advise against a UK procedure. There is a guy on YouTube who had two procedures with Farjo and is unhappy, but I’ve only heard one side of that story.

Can anyone show me bad results from Dr Farjo? Or offer any advice on the whole UK or abroad thing?

Putting things into perspective you have Dr. Farjo with over 30 years experience under his belt and you can only find one negative review, that’s pretty good. You mention Dr. Reddy as the sole Uk option, “according” to others. Have they extensively researched every UK clinic? I doubt it. People tend to follow suit with opinions. Certain users will recite the same names over and over, usually to promote or they’ve been influenced by the cherry picked results that litter Social media.

Go back several years, Dr. Lorenzo was the hitman, several years later, there is Dr. Couto. Dig deep enough, you will find unhappy patients.

Different doctors have different approaches and ethics. One could turn you away, another will accept you, one will say meds, another will say no meds.

What has Dr. Farjo suggested?

Thanks for your reply! Very good way of looking at it…. many years experience, with one unhappy patient!

Dr Farjo has advised 1800 grafts to my hairline, as have other consultations I’ve had. I’ve also had a consultation with Dr Arshad who is much cheaper and seems to have good results. Only worry with Dr Arshad is there are currently patients who report having slow growth etc, and density not being quite right after 12 months, but he does seem to offer free top ups to sort this, although that does mean having another procedure.

@DaveTay Thank you for consulting with us about your hair loss. Please note that the potential requirement for needing a top up/second pass is firstly not unique to our clinic and secondly very much dependent on the patients expectations of what density is wanting to be achieved. In some cases we offer a second pass without charge and in good faith if both the doctor and patient agree that more density is required.

Also I would add that there are many examples (some on this forum) where our patients have had growth much quicker than expected, here a couple of recent examples of so called "early growers":

I would advise continue your research and choose a surgeon who you are most comfortable with.

Hi mate hair dr are good
Most guys always need a 2nd hair transplant just to fill in areas etc
I also like dr Edward ball,maitland clinic in Portsmouth
I've had a consultation with him and he is a honest ethical surgeon who just wants best for his patients

Hi Dave

I had my procedure with The Hair Dr and would definitely recommend them. Both the support and after care service have been 1st class. I was one of the slow growers but knowing the Dr and team have been with me every step of the way even now after 12 months they are still checking on me. I have been researching for years and still not made up my mind if I want to get it done or who I would choose. Overtime you can see some clinics be flavour of the month and then disappear. Also it´s the ongoing quality and look. I see some dr´s and while it looks good I don´t like the hairline design or feel they use too many grafts. Like DaveTay says when you see few patients with questionable results it would make me step back for sure. Philw, with respect to you saying "Most guys always need a 2nd hair transplant just to fill in areas etc" are you talking about between the grafts from a previous transplant or in a totally new area not treated before. I wouldn´t expect a touch up between the old grafts I would expect a decent density and growth was achieved. This is not unreasonable to expect.

I've had 3 hair transplants and I'm not happy
All I had was a receded hairline
My first was 2001
Just be prepared for a 2nd op
Regards to a 2nd op sometimes grafts dont grow or the transplants implanted causes ur original hair to get shockloss so it dont grow meaning u have to replace that hair with more hair transplants

Sorry to hear it´s not worked out for you, hope you get closure.

My point was really what you have said. If enough grafts don´t grow and it´s obvious that is not acceptable. I had this discussion with a couple of clinics about shockloss. One said it wasn´t a good idea to add hair if there was hair already and said wait until it thinned more so they could give a decent density. The other said they would add transplant hair over the area as if it was bald already, that way if the hair did have shock loss it wouldn´t matter.

What happened to me was I had my first transplants that triggered more loss
I had my 2nd transplant to fill in the loss I had with the first transplant I had
Guess what, it triggered more loss
So had 3rd transplant to fill in that loss
And it happened again
So I was done with it

Hey pal,

I thought with shock loss it usually grows back? As permanent shock loss is pretty rare. Where did you get your procedure done may I ask?

Shockloss normally comes back but mine didn't?
I had mine done in America
I don't like to mention named now as it causes issues on the forum but it was a top drawer in America
