Chronic Telogen Effluvium and Minoxidil

I've been experiencing hair shedding for 9 years and recently I got diagnosed with Chronic Telogen Effluvium. My doctor didn't draw out a biopsy but he examined my scalp closely under a microscope. He also looked at my blood test, ferritin levels and thyroid tests. All within a normal range. He prescribed Ferroglobin, Perfectil and Minoxidil. Now I'm a bit apprehensive towards using Minoxidil as it should be applied for the rest of a person's life. Anybody has any experience with Chronic TE and Minoxidil?

Not experienced it but have read about success stories. PRP appears to work well for women and corticosteroids which I reckon are better than the supplements you are taking.
Minoxidil is worth considering as an option the other treatments do not work.

If you see improvements using these meds you could probably rule out a lot of causes and concentrate on which meds you are prepared to stick with.

Temporary hair loss known as telogen effluvium typically follows stress, shock, or a traumatic experience. Usually, the top of the scalp is affected. Alopecia areata, a condition that causes accelerated hair loss, is distinct from telogen effluvium. Although a person's hair may lose a lot of it, this is usually only temporary and the hair will eventually regrow.

What is telogen effluvium?
If a person often goes through hair-loss episodes that last more than six months, they are said to have chronic telogen effluviumTrusted Source. In most cases, telogen effluvium can be reversed.Though it may appear extremely thin, a person with this illness does not completely lose all of their hair. A kind of hair loss known as telogen effluvium is characterised by hair thinning or an increase in hair loss. It occurs more frequently.
As per Dr. Tina Ramachander, one of the best dermatologist in Bangalore the cause of the hair loss will determine the best course of treatment for telogen effluvium. The hair cycle should return to normal and hair will start to grow again once the trigger has been identified and addressed.
