Considering FUE plus SMP

Hi all,
This is my first post on this forum. I am a 25 year old norwood 5/6 and was seriously considering getting a hair transplant. I had a consultation at a clinic and was told that my donor area was not thick enough to achieve a reasonable density given the extent of my hairloss. Around 2000-2500 available grafts.
I then had another consultation at vinci when i discovered the SMP procedure. The results I've seen look promising however they are not as pronounced as I would like them to be. I'm also uncomfortable about the illusion of hair, but with a smooth scalp. Vinci told me they offer an FUE + SMP procedure, so that my hair would appear more dense and dark, whilst still having the feel of hair. Sounds perfect! However, I'm struggling to find examples of such a procedure - before and after photos with my level of hairloss.
Could anybody share some photos or direct me to a forum to find what I'm looking for? Better yet, if anybody has gone through something similar, I would love to hear your experience.

Im no expert but I would strongly suggest that if you are considering this smp/fue combo to meet someone who has had this combination atreatment.

You are only 25 and with an unfortunately advanced hairloss pattern and very limited donor capacity. You can not afford to make a wrong/rash decision, so take your time and do plenty of research.

Thanks. It's not a decision I'm taking lightly. To be honest, I look fine with my head shaved so if I'm not 100% sure I'll get the results I want, I won't take any risks.

The trouble would be finding somebody who has had this treatment done in such an extreme case as mine. Would it even be worth having the FUE with so few donor hairs available?

Its good that you look good with a shaved head.

2000-2500 grafts done by a reputable Surgeon, may get you a hairline and some filling in behind to your frontal third area. Grown out it would look awful but shaved to stubble-3mm it will create a hairline that will frame your face. This is on the assumption that you are heaxing to a NW6-7 hairloss pattern.

Those grafts combined with SMP could give you a result that you are happy with. But this is a huge decision, hence why it is better to meet these fue/smp combo patients in real life. Im not knocking fue or smp results but real life gives a better perspective of treatment results than photographs or videos will ever do.

There is a guy on here called fred the belgian. He is the same age as you and also had limited donor grafts. Take a look at his thread on his 2000 grafts in hair transplants patients section. He is quite active on various forums so he may respond to a private mesaage.

May also be worth visiting a few more Fue clinics that are reputable to get a second opinion on your donor density. There is a lot more you can do with 3k grafts than 2000 grafts.

If you post a few pics of the top and sides of your head including a good donoer revion pic, you may get some good advice from orher posters that may give u some valuable advice. The beauty of forums is that responses not only help you but many others that are reading your thread.

thanks for the advise coopman. I checked out fred the belgian's procedure and take a lot of comfort in that his hairloss is very similar to mine and I would be delighted with that kind of result.
