About 15yrs ago (I was 21). I had a number of consultations with a few Uk Clinics at that time. I never met the HT Surgeon in 2 of these consultations.
But what struck me was the hard sell, pushy tactics, sign your name on this bit of paper tactics they attempted to lure me in. I did not really notice this at the time, these were the guys that were going to save my bouffant quiffs existence.
Now that is nothing new. But recently I have noticed in the cosmetic industry there seems to be an increase in the amount of Clinics offering finance for these procedures.
Whilst there is nothing wrong in that, if someone can afford the repayments there is no problem. But this finance aspect can be used as a dealbreaker by some non ethical Clinics to gain custom.
You go for your consultation, you like what you hear and then because you dont have the money for the procedure, you speak to their finance guy.
This finance guy needs to sell you the loan. Poor credit score, hey no problem we can get you a guarantor loan. A Clinic that is not making enough money, needs additional custom. Less ethical Clinics are exploiting this option.
Lets go back to the finance guy. He needs to sell the loan to get his commission. Everyones a winner apart from the patient maybe.
This is not a rant. I was in a bar last night with my gf and 2 of her friends came in. The conversation turned to eyebag removal which one of her friends was looking into. She had been for a consultation in Harley Street, London and because this Clinic said after a credit search they can provide credit, then this is where she was going to have the procedure done.I asked her who is the Surgeon? She could not name him but said he was very good and she had seen photos of his work.
This is an educated lady in her mid 30s. I advised her to do the standard checks that I would do. But was dismissed for being a guy that does not look on the bright side of life.
My point being in this. Credit is being used to sucker people in by less ethical Clinics. Some people out there will be taking more and more risks because a loan can be obtained for a procedure.
