I`ve had slight Gynaecomastia but nothing more and I`ve been on Proscar and Finasteride since 2005. Taking a pill every day isn`t an issue for me but I do understand people's concerns with it. It can and does help donor hair as lots of people experience thinning in the donor zone.

Many people do go ahead with an HT without meds. If you feel your hair loss won`t progress and the clinic checks your hair for miniaturisation and confirms you`re ok to proceed, then that's fine but I`d take photos periodically to keep a watchful eye on your hair.

Is the thinning temporary or is it more long term? Such as the finasteride thickens it or just grows back quicker?

Finasteride slows down hair loss and helps miniaturised hairs grow back stronger. With or without it your hair may continue to thin out and die. Your hair loss may stay as it is now without any further noticeable thinning. It is quite unpredictable.

Yeah ive defiantly noticed that aswell can find hardly any posts on other forums regarding there journey with the hair dr which is the only thing holding me back at the minute

Yes it really is a terrifying step to take. It's a complete unknown and I'm concerned that perhaps the success of the surgeries is not as rosy as it might seem. Where are the people with bad results?

If so then that's a concern, if not and it's natural then that would make things a lot easier to accept

Remember Dr Arshad is a NHS plastic Surgeon. This is another reason I choose him for my procedure.

Your donor will thin out by however many grafts are extracted. If transplanting between existing hair they can suffer from shock loss which is usually temporary with the hair growing back.
