In this episode of "Bitesize with Bisanga", Dr. Bisanga discusses his approach to donor repair.
He details the challenges in regard to the general situation of the patient as when the donor is destroyed, this commonly reflects poor quality surgery and will often be accompanied by poor status in the recipient. When focusing only on restocking the donor, this may mean depriving the patient from good quality body hair that can be used to fix/improve an area on top.

Donor restocking whilst more commonly requested nowadays is not necessarily an approach that Dr. Bisanga will agree to for many patients upon their initial request, without having a more thorough understanding of all aspects of their scalp and hair.

As was alluded to in the video, many patients with such donor concerns, will also have concerns regarding loss in other areas and due to the poor quality of their previous surgery, normally these areas will still require attention.

Patients present donor concerns to varying degrees and before agreeing to surgery, a thorough in person consultation would be required to allow Dr. Bisanga to assess skin quality, scarring, donor sources and potential future graft demands when considering progressive loss.

It was likely rushing into surgery that has presented this situation to many patients and so therefore a thorough consultation, understanding and approach is necessary before jumping back into the chair.
