Estimate costs

Guys.
I'm thinking about starting propecia in the first quater of 2015 with the idea of saving for a HT.
look at the photo below, as you can see, the crown is thinning quite bad. All over the top is thinning too, and at my temples the hairline is four fingers back if that makes sense.
The question is, if I were to get a HT to cover most of the crown and thicken up the other area slightly (not over bothered about fully restoring the temple, that's just age!). What sort of cost would I be looking at if done in England?

Definately try the meds. The result this guy achieved after 8 months is awesome and his hairloss pattern is quite similar to yours. If you respond as well as him you may decide you don't need a hair transplant.

I'm no expert with UK costs but at a guess I'd say 3 - 3500 grafts roughly costing £9 - 10,000.

I would get onto the medication and I would expect to see an improvement in the crown as to how much who knows as examples like the one westcoaster posted happen but are less common. The balding area could reduce in size and the number of grafts required will of course reduce. Best to get onto the medication for at least 6 months and then review.

Only UK surgeon I know of who I would recommend is Dr Reddy and his cost for FUE is around 6GBP per graft. He is a conservative surgeon and achieves great results with a small number of grafts. Agree with the others to try Propecia (branded not generic) for at least 12 months before evaluating. Also do not just consider getting it done in UK, there are some fantastic surgeons a couple of hours from London on the Eurostar in Belgium worth checking out, BHR and Feriduni in particular.

I agree you should give the meds a try before doing a hair transplant, hopefully you are a good responder.There are quite a few UK clinics on here you can consult with if you wish to stay in the UK.Your costs will depend if you want strip or Fue, have you got a preference.

Dr. Edward Ball from Ziering Medical is a great choice. I had my surgery with him 14 months ago. I'm so glad I chose him as my result changed my life.
Initially he turned me away for surgery advising I tried the medications, I took his advice and started with Finasteride and Rogaine foam. I responded well regaining some lost hair and have since retained my remaining hair.
Definately try the medications first, if anything it will maintain the hair you have left.
