Dr Ball has seen some very encouraging early results from the use of a new device for treating male and female pattern hair loss. It is a simple hand held device, designed to mimic the effects of micro needling but without needles or skin penetration. The device is used at home, once a day for 2 minutes on an ongoing basis.

One of our results seen after 4 months treatment can be seen here in the photos and figures below:

Dr Ball is keen to offer this simple treatment to more patients in order to assess their response using accurate photography and high magnification trichoscopy imaging. Photographs can be cropped for anonymity. Patients are asked to attend The Maitland Clinic in Portsmouth for photographs before starting treatment and again for review after 3 months. Patients will need to have made no other changes to their hair loss treatment regime for the previous 12 months in order to accurately assess the effect of this new treatment.

If you are interested in trying this exciting new hair loss treatment device, please contact Lana at The Maitland Clinic by emailing [email protected] or calling 02392 706122.

I know that the answer is more than likely a no, but is there any way of accessing this treatment without travelling to Portsmouth? Thanks.

Hi Salazar
You are welcome to have details on how to access and use the device without traveling to our Portsmouth clinic. Dr Ball is keen to offer standardised global and trichoscopic imaging to help people assess their response to treatment but you can certainly use the device and monitor progress yourself. If you would like to get in touch via [email protected], I'd be pleased to send you details.
Best wishes
Lana

Would the treatment be lifelong to maintain any gains?

We expect so. It is early days in its development so we don’t have long term data, but it is expected to be used for 2 minutes as a daily habit along with brushing teeth. The current users are finding it very easy to incorporate into daily life and are motivated to continue because they have seen positive results. I guess time will tell as to whether or not they maintain use long term.

This is great, thanks for sharing! I have just looked at the CELF and ordered it, along with a new toothbrush. CELF recommend an iO 3 or 4 series.
