Finasteride effectiveness and recommendations

Hi all,

So I am opening a topic on Finasteride, what are your views towards using this as an effective treatment to hair loss and also noting the side effects and benefits.

Would you recommend this as an effective hair loss treatment?

I have been on it for years now.....probably around 7.+ and I believe without it I would be in very poor shape right now.....not sure if I'm just one of the lucky ones but I haven't had any real noticeable sides either which is a relief. I used to use Regain too but stopped as I have blood pressure issues related to an other illness.

Thanks Bullitnut; I am also thinking if you are planning to have children, it is not good for the female.

Been on Finasteride for around 13-14 years. My hair has remained stable with barely any further loss in all those years.

I'm 38 now. Also when I had a break from Finasteride my hair got noticeably thinner after a year. So without Fin I believe I would be shaving my head completely.

I think my hair loss type is pretty unique too. I started balding at 13-14 years old and believe my form of hair loss is slowly progressive and maybe that's why Finasteride has stabilised my hair loss all these years.

Interesting point you made about Rogaine. I gave up earlier this year as I started getting heart palpitations.
